Kevin

American Staffordshire Terrier · Male · Young · 3 years

Kevin is a male American Staffordshire Terrier, probably born in 2023, who was wandering near a village but belonged to no one. The animal shelter of our Hungarian partner organization took him in. Before adoption, he will be neutered. He has a very friendly, playful character and is a lively boy. He enjoys petting, shows great affection and is people-oriented. He is always up for fun, enjoys activities and will love long walks in nature. He is cooperative, always ready to learn something new and is easy to motivate. Kevin would be a wonderful family dog and surely a good friend for older children. He gets along very well with female dog, but with other males it depends on the sympathy. Therefore, we recommend him as a second dog to a female dog. His behavior towards cats is unknown. He wishes for loving and active people who have enough free time to train him consistently and do not live in the middle of the city. Experience in dog ownership, preferably with this or a similar breed, should already be present. The dog has a height of 45 cm and weighs 23 kg.

HU·Show original

About Kevin

What life with Kevin looks like

Kevin is a large young adult american staffordshire terrier dog waiting at Animal Care Hungary.

An young adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. A larger dog like this one needs daily off-leash time when possible — a fenced yard or regular access to safe walking trails. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇭🇺Adopting from Hungary

Hungarian shelters operate at high capacity given the country's stray population. Animals leave sterilized, chipped, and with a passport. Many shelters coordinate transport to Germany, Austria, and the Nordics.

Frequently asked

Adopting Kevin, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Kevin?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Animal Care Hungary handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Kevin on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Kevin if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Animal Care Hungary will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Kevin already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Kevin isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Animal Care Hungary early rather than rehoming privately; they know Kevin and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (HU). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
