Adopt Khaleesi

Mixed Breed · Female

Khaleesi Breed: European Shorthair Color: white Gender: female Birthdate: approx. 12/2023 Neutered: yes Khaleesi was found and brought to our animal shelter. We quickly noticed that she behaves strangely. The finders also observed that she screams a lot and loudly and appears disoriented. We then determined that she is deaf. After she got somewhat used to us, the screaming became less frequent. However, she can still be very loud, and because of this, she will not be rehomed in an apartment or multi-family home, as conflicts with neighbors are almost inevitable. She can be a cuddly cat, but her mood can suddenly change, and she can become aggressively attacking. Apart from her deafness, she is healthy; we have had her thoroughly checked neurologically. Definitely, people with strong nerves and extensive cat experience are needed here, perhaps even individuals willing to work with a feline therapist. Children and other pets should not be in her new home, as she wants to be the only queen.

About Khaleesi

What life with Khaleesi looks like

Khaleesi is a adult mixed breed cat waiting at Tierschutzverein für den Rhein-Kreis Neuss e.V. in Germany.

An adult cat usually shows their personality within a week. Give them a quiet room with everything they need (food, water, litter, hiding spot) and let them choose when to explore. Don't force interaction — every cat decides for themselves when a new home counts as home.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Khaleesi, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Khaleesi?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Tierschutzverein für den Rhein-Kreis Neuss e.V. handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Khaleesi on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Khaleesi if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Tierschutzverein für den Rhein-Kreis Neuss e.V. will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Khaleesi already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most cats on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Khaleesi isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Tierschutzverein für den Rhein-Kreis Neuss e.V. early rather than rehoming privately; they know Khaleesi and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
