Adopt Kia

Mixed Breed · Female · Kitten · 9 months

Animal welfare worker: Virginia Georgieva, born around August 2025, female, location: Bulgaria, spayed: yes, FIV test: negative, FeLV test: negative, disabilities: paralyzed tail, compatible with: children: unknown, cats: yes, dogs: unknown, requirements: NONE, single housing only, apartment living, NO outdoor access, balcony or terrace desired (if available, safety measures are required). Kia comes from the street. How or why she ended up there is unknown - but for such a small kitten, life there is much too dangerous. A friend of Virginia keeps trying to help such animals and temporarily takes them in her garage. However, especially in winter it becomes too cold there. Therefore, Kia finally moved into the animal shelter with some other cats. Upon Kia's admission, something immediately caught attention: her tail is paralyzed and simply hangs down. According to the veterinarian, it is likely a nerve damage caused by trauma - perhaps due to an accident or because someone once pulled her tail roughly. Kia no longer feels it. Fortunately, she copes well with it and goes to the toilet normally. Because she sometimes "forgets" to clean her tail due to the paralysis, she appreciates a helping hand that occasionally cleans it for her with a damp cloth. Kia is simply a sweet little mouse with a particularly loving character. She is very affectionate and enjoys every caress she can get. She also shows herself to be very social and friendly with the other cats in the shelter and gets along well with them. Overall, Kia is an easygoing, gentle kitten who simply seeks closeness and security. In daily life, her disability seems to hardly bother her - she is just as curious and lively as other cats. Who will give this socially gifted treasure a basket with security and love, and show her that a small disability does not stand in the way of her great happiness? Kia is ready to give her heart - now only the right people are missing for her new life.

About Kia

What life with Kia looks like

Kia is a large puppy/kitten mixed breed cat waiting at Glücksnasen e.V. Tierschutzverein in Germany.

Kittens are tiny chaos engines for about six months and then mellow rapidly. They need two scheduled feedings, a litter box per cat plus one extra, and somewhere high to climb. Spay/neuter happens around six months — most shelters arrange this before adoption.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Kia, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Kia?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Glücksnasen e.V. Tierschutzverein handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Kia on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Kia if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Glücksnasen e.V. Tierschutzverein will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Kia already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most cats on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Kia isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Glücksnasen e.V. Tierschutzverein early rather than rehoming privately; they know Kia and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
