Kida

Female · Young · 1 year

Kida is the sweetest, most loving girl you could meet. She wants to jump up for a cuddle with everyone she meets, and sometimes doesn't quite know her size! She can have a bark at other dogs if she can't get to them to say hello, but is still a baby so she still has things to learn. Kida loves a zoom off-lead in an enclosed paddock, and will enjoy a good playtime in her own garden. She could cope with a busier home but can find loud traffic a bit spooky, so would enjoy quieter walks if possible. Kida will be a wonderful, loving and playful companion and will make her new family so very happy! Meet gorgeous girl, Kida! Kida is a 1-year old Lurcher princess looking for her forever home. Kida could live with another dog in the home, pending a successful meet in the centre - any potential resident dog would need to be tolerant and similar in playstyle as Kida can be quite boisterous! Kida would like for all children in the home to be sensible secondary school aged and over, as she is a bouncy girl, and will jump up for fuss! Kida loves spending time with her people; a cuddle, a snuggle and a snooze together! She would love to sleep on the bed at night with her people, and would prefer to not be left alone for too long during the day as she can find this a bit upsetting. Kida is a big fan of all things food and fun! She loves her snacks, and is a very clever girl! She also loves playing with her toys, including a good game of tug! Kida will need her space when eating as she has shown potential to guard if food is taken off her, so we would always advise never to challenge for resources and instead offer an alternative in a 'swap & drop'. Kida is a gorgeous girl with a heart of gold, who LOVES her walks and sniffy adventures. She is looking for an active family that can take her on fun walks and keep her mind busy! She can pull on the lead, so will need a bit of support in this area, but will make an amazing addition to the home. We can't wait to see this beautiful angel curled up in her forever home!

About Kida

What life with Kida looks like

Kida is a large young adult dog waiting at Dogs Trust Cardiff in Cardiff.

An young adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. A larger dog like this one needs daily off-leash time when possible — a fenced yard or regular access to safe walking trails. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇬🇧Adopting from United Kingdom

UK shelters work under the Pet Travel Scheme (post-Brexit, the EU pet passport is not valid; a UK Animal Health Certificate is required for travel into the EU). Most UK rescues focus on domestic placements but some work with EU partners.

Frequently asked

Adopting Kida, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Kida?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Dogs Trust Cardiff handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Kida on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Kida if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Dogs Trust Cardiff will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. UK adopters: post-Brexit travel into the EU requires an Animal Health Certificate. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Kida already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Kida isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Dogs Trust Cardiff early rather than rehoming privately; they know Kida and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (EN). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
