Kidos

Male · Adult · 6 years

Large dog... and even greater love! Kidos is a dog who captures people's hearts at a rapid pace. His personality, gentle and kind gaze, and delicacy are things that move us on every walk. Kidos arrived at the animal shelter very thin and scared. We don't know his past, but it was probably not the happiest. He is in the process of rebuilding muscle mass and weight. In his kennel, Kidos is a gentle, loved dog. A tender companion. He goes for walks willingly, but calmly. The beginning of walking on a leash was slightly chaotic, but now he is a real expert. He doesn't pull on the leash and responds beautifully to calls. He is calm when exploring his surroundings. He has already had the opportunity to greet a gentle cat and did very well. He was controlled and polite. On encountering other dogs, he usually does not react, unless another dog approaches him, but he quickly gives up and calmly continues the walk. Kidos, despite his size, is a dog with a very delicate temperament. He can be shy in new situations and sometimes needs time to open up more. Support for him is a person and their calmness. For Kidos, we are looking for a family that loves large dogs and knows what needs such four-legged friends have. Kidos in a home will primarily need peace and someone who builds a lasting relationship with him, and Kidos will feel safe. Due to Kidos' size, we do not recommend him for a home with small children. We don't know Kidos' relationship with other pets, including cats. If he were to go to a home where there is already another pet, an introduction to the resident would be required.

Duży psiak…i jeszcze większa miłość! Delikatnym pieszczochem. Bywa nieśmiały w nowych sytuacjach i niekiedy potrzebuje czasu by się bardziej otworzyć. Kidos w domu przede wszystkim będzie potrzebować spokoju i kogoś, kto zbuduje z nim trwałą relację, a Kidos poczuje się bezpieczny.

About Kidos

What life with Kidos looks like

Kidos is a large adult dog waiting at Schronisko Na Paluchu in Warsaw.

An adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. A larger dog like this one needs daily off-leash time when possible — a fenced yard or regular access to safe walking trails. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

Note from the shelter: Needs time to build trust, requires calm environment, muscle mass recovery ongoing

🇵🇱Adopting from Poland

Polish shelters maintain established transport routes to Germany, Netherlands, Austria, and Sweden. Animals leave sterilized and chipped. Adoption fees are typically lower than in Western Europe (often €50–€150) but adopters cover transport.

Frequently asked

Adopting Kidos, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Kidos?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Schronisko Na Paluchu handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Kidos on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Kidos if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Schronisko Na Paluchu will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Kidos already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Kidos isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Schronisko Na Paluchu early rather than rehoming privately; they know Kidos and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (PL). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
