Adopt Kim

Mixed Breed · Female · Adult · 4 years

Kim came already as a puppy into the animal shelter and has known only life behind bars since then. She has never had her own home or a stable primary caregiver – only the loud, hectic everyday life in the animal shelter. Formerly, Kim was an open, friendly, and trusting female dog who enjoyed cuddles very much. But even the happiest heart begins to tire eventually. In the last months, Kim has increasingly withdrawn. She no longer seeks contact with people as carefree as she used to – as if the long wait had silenced something in her. However, Kim is not an aggressive or difficult female dog, but simply very insecure. It is clear that she would like to trust, but often does not dare. If one takes the time for her and meets her calmly and patiently, she approaches cautiously and even allows being stroked. Kim has built trust, especially with the caretakers at the animal shelter, whom she has known since her puppyhood, and seeks their proximity without problems. Additionally, Kim is one of those dogs who have seen many pen-mates come and go. She has repeatedly witnessed how other dogs found their families and left the animal shelter – while she was always left behind. With each departure, a small piece of hope seemed to be lost. With other dogs, Kim is absolutely uncomplicated. Whether male dog or female dog – she meets them openly, friendly, and sociably. She is very much oriented towards other dogs and gains visible security through her presence. Therefore, an independent only dog would be a great advantage for Kim.

About Kim

What life with Kim looks like

Kim is a large adult mixed breed dog waiting at Arme Hundeseelen in Năsăud.

An adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. A larger dog like this one needs daily off-leash time when possible — a fenced yard or regular access to safe walking trails. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇷🇴Adopting from Romania

Romanian rescues handle the highest volume of cross-border adoptions in the EU. Animals are quarantined and fully vetted before transport. Reputable rescues maintain detailed health records and post-adoption follow-up.

Frequently asked

Adopting Kim, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Kim?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Arme Hundeseelen handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Kim on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Kim if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Arme Hundeseelen will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Kim already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Kim isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Arme Hundeseelen early rather than rehoming privately; they know Kim and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
