Adopt Kimi

Mixed Breed · Female · Young · 3 years

Kimi is a timid, sometimes slightly nervous, happy dog. She is still partially unsure and needs to learn being alone. However, she likes to go everywhere with you. She knows driving in a car, restaurant visits, the city, shopping centers, offices etc. If you have her blanket with you, she will relax relatively well where you place it. At home and in the office she can relax very well on her blanket. Outside she is very curious and present. Sniffs, climbs and runs happily. As she has a strong prey drive, she should not be let off-leash near the forest. Otherwise she has good basic obedience. This however is still developing; she learns very quickly and gladly. Especially she loves nose work. Searching for food, toys or anything else. For almost a year now we regularly go to mantrailing. She finds it great and is a real overachiever. It would be great if she could continue doing this. She does not like strange dogs. They make her scared. However, you can definitely participate in group walks or work with her in dog training classes in groups, as long as no dog is intrusive. We are looking for a home for Kimi with patient people who are willing to learn with her. Furthermore, there should be no small children, dogs or small animals in her home.

About Kimi

What life with Kimi looks like

Kimi is a medium-sized young adult mixed breed dog waiting at Hilf dem Tier in Hilf Dem Tier.

An young adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. Two reasonable walks a day plus play time is usually enough. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇨🇭Adopting from Switzerland

Swiss shelters require a home visit (Platzkontrolle) and proof of suitable accommodation. Cantons each have their own additional dog-keeping requirements (e.g. SKN training in some areas). Animals leave sterilized and chipped.

Frequently asked

Adopting Kimi, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Kimi?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Hilf dem Tier handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Kimi on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Kimi if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Hilf dem Tier will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Kimi already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Kimi isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Hilf dem Tier early rather than rehoming privately; they know Kimi and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
