‘OLD DOG OF THE WEEK’ FEATURES NEW PHOTOS AND A FRESH WRITE-UP FOR AN OVERLOOKED OLDIE THAT HAS BEEN ON OUR WEBSITE FOR A WHILE BUT IS STILL WAITING FOR A NEW HOME. Please help Kimi by sharing this page! Gorgeous girl Kimi is a 10-year-old Rottweiler in the care of Last Chance Animal Rescue at their kennels in Edenbridge, Kent. She’s available to either foster or adopt. Kimi is looking for a slow-paced retirement home with no children or other pets and someone at home most of the time. Apart from being overly fond of treats, her passion in life is toys, especially tennis balls. Kimi is a wonderful companion dog. She’s undemanding in terms of fuss and would rather just sit near you, beside or sometimes on your feet. In her kennel she will sometimes put her head on a staff member’s lap or on their hand but she doesn’t want to be smothered, just to express, “Here we are together and all is well.”. On walks, Kimi is a plodder. She only has 15 minute walks twice a day. Even then, she will sometimes plant her feet and refuse to move. This can be when she doesn’t want to go in a certain direction but it’s often her attempting to get a nice treaty bribe. Such a clever girl! Kimi normally ignores people and dogs when out on walks however there are certain dogs she reacts to, by bouncing up and down while barking. If she is walking with a tennis ball, which she usually is, then she tends to take her frustration out on the ball, shaking it furiously. When taken to a secure paddock she will often lie down in the middle surrounded by toys. “There’s no point overexerting yourself,” is Kimi’s motto! She travels well and is trusting of the local vet who she’s got to know. She’s an undemanding companion who just wants to know that you’re around so she can relax or play with her toys with confidence. She can be left for a couple of hours when needed, after about 4 hours she’ll give a howl or two, to guide you home. She'd love to have an owner or two who are homebodies, like her. A staff member at Last Chance said, “Kimi has come in a few times to my staff accommodation and at first she is very restless and paces but now she follows me everywhere hoping for tid bits of food. Then when I finally sit down she will lay by my feet. She does also like to get on the bed with you to sit by you, however so as not to push boundaries with her, I do not let her sleep through the night on the bed with me. She will happily get down and sleep on the bed on the floor when told to. “She has been moved to a new kennel so she has a better view of visitors and is loving it. We have noticed a big change in her. It has made her happier and given her a new lease of life, throwing her ball around the kennel. She even greets people with her ball. She does still need slow introductions to new people. Kimi has unfortunately gotten lazy, so has now had to go on a strict diet but she does love the odd treat here and there.” Health wise, she has luxating patellas (ouchy knees) but this is managed very well with Metacam and Tramadol which she’s happy to take, as well as keeping her weight reasonable. If she is fostered, Last Chance will take care of the vet bills as she really deserves to have home comforts and proper companionship in her later years. If you can give Kimi the quiet retirement home and companionship she seeks, please contact Last Chance Animal Rescue as follows: Email: Or visit the rescue centre which is open – Wed to Sun, 11am-3pm (only closed Mon/Tues) Please say you saw Kimi featured as Old Dog of the Week on the Oldies Club website. This replaces Kimi’s original Oldies Club page dated 9 April 2025.

About Kimi

What life with Kimi looks like

Kimi is a large senior mixed breed dog waiting at The Oldies Club in United Kingdom.

Senior dogs settle in faster than younger ones. They want a soft bed, predictable meals, and short, sniff-heavy walks rather than runs. Many senior rescues bond deeply within weeks because they understand exactly how good a stable home is. Expect occasional vet visits for joint or dental care.

🇬🇧Adopting from United Kingdom

UK shelters work under the Pet Travel Scheme (post-Brexit, the EU pet passport is not valid; a UK Animal Health Certificate is required for travel into the EU). Most UK rescues focus on domestic placements but some work with EU partners.

Frequently asked

Adopting Kimi, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Kimi?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. The Oldies Club handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Kimi on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Kimi if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — The Oldies Club will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. UK adopters: post-Brexit travel into the EU requires an Animal Health Certificate. Transport is usually a separate cost, so ask for the exact figure before you commit.
Is Kimi already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Kimi isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with The Oldies Club early rather than rehoming privately; they know Kimi and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (EN). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
