Adopt Kimi

Mixed Breed · Female · Adult · 4 years

Kimi shares her life and enclosure with her brother, Alan. She is a shy girl who greatly enjoys his presence as he is always very happy and social – and loves the staff's attentions. Without him, Kimi wouldn't have had it easy. They are a tight duo, always seen by each other's side. Kimi has met other dogs and gets along very well in dog company – but no one comes close to her brother, Alan. Our and the staff's hope is that they can continue to share their life – and we therefore have a special offer for a home. To win Kimi's trust, you must earn it – by being calm and friendly in your interactions – and not placing a lot of demands. She has a heart of gold but finds it hard to open up to new acquaintances. With the kennel's handler, she has a fine relationship, and when they go for walks, she prances along with her tail high, curious and attentive. A little chat about life and perhaps a treat might further raise her spirits. Kimi will take her own people to her heart – and hopes that a kind person who enjoys the outdoors will fall for her. For our sweet Kimi, we are seeking a warm, welcoming forever home where she can continue her fine development in an empathetic and encouraging environment. The home should be in a quiet location with beautiful natural areas nearby. The household should lead a quiet lifestyle at home. Children, if any, should be older. A dog companion (if it can be, Alan is a great option) is a requirement as he can be important in the new life puzzle. Cats are okay. Important – Kimi has grown up in a protected environment behind high walls. She must never be pressured where she feels insecure – in new environments or among new people. Progress should be made at her own pace and be richly rewarded. Background: Mamma Regina held on at the nuclear power plant in Cernavoda, a popular place for homeless dogs.

About Kimi

What life with Kimi looks like

Kimi is a medium-sized adult mixed breed dog waiting at Hundhjälpen in Stockholm.

An adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. Two reasonable walks a day plus play time is usually enough. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇸🇪Adopting from Sweden

Swedish shelters require an adoption application and home visit. Animals are chipped, vaccinated, and sterilized. Cross-border placements within the EU use the standard pet passport.

Frequently asked

Adopting Kimi, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Kimi?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Hundhjälpen handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Kimi on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Kimi if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Hundhjälpen will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Kimi already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Kimi isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Hundhjälpen early rather than rehoming privately; they know Kimi and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (SV). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
