Kimi

Mixed Breed · Unknown

When two dogs appear in a small village like Torreblascopedro, which is picturesque near Linares, and no one knows them, there are two possibilities: either they came from tourists or were abandoned by their owners before the holidays. Sofia and her brother had neither a chip nor a tattoo when they were rescued, and the funny siblings are also crossbreeds of a breed that is really not very common outside Spain; they show many characteristics of the Catalan Shepherd Dog. No one was looking for the two beautiful, just one and a half years old heartbreakers, so they can now hope for a nice future with reliable and kind people, and until then, they are well taken care of by our friends in Linares. Their rescue already shows that Kimi and Sofia are truly lovable four-legged beings. The two fluffy models wandered through the village, quenched their thirst at a well, and when an animal rescuer called them to come to ArcoNatura, the two climbed into the unfamiliar car, eager and curious about what was coming next. Even in the facility of our partners, Kimi and Sofia show themselves to be very sociable with both humans and animals. However, it should be clearly stated here that you should not be deceived by the cuddly appearance of these beautiful athletes. Our new arrivals are undoubtedly cuddly and affectionate, but they are not couch cushions, but rather working dogs - highly intelligent and eager to learn. The Catalan Shepherd is often somewhat reserved with strangers (but rarely fearful) and takes a lot of time to build friendship. This special breed is particularly known for its extraordinary relationship with their owners. They become very close to the person who works with them - which explains why they are popular among shepherds. They understand each other without words, and between owner and dog, there is no need for a single sheet of paper. So if you are an active, sporty type, if you like being outdoors and are looking for a friend or girlfriend who will willingly accompany you on every adventure, if you are looking for a dog that shines with you on the training ground after the adaptation phase or helps you with tasks around the house, if you want to lose weight with the help of a personal trainer or simply enjoy teaching your four-legged friend funny tricks that entertain the whole family, then you should now think carefully whether you really want to keep scrolling or instead call our adoption officers directly to find out how Kimi or his sister Sofia (or both??!) can soon conquer your heart and your home.

About Kimi

What life with Kimi looks like

Kimi is a small adult mixed breed dog waiting at Tierschutzverein ARCA e.V. in Gernsbach.

An adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. Two reasonable walks a day plus play time is usually enough. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Kimi, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Kimi?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Tierschutzverein ARCA e.V. handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Kimi on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Kimi if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Tierschutzverein ARCA e.V. will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Kimi already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Kimi isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Tierschutzverein ARCA e.V. early rather than rehoming privately; they know Kimi and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
