Kimmie

Lurcher · Female · Young · 2 years

Kimmie is a quiet, gentle 2 year old lurcher, now ready to find her forever home. When she first arrived to us, she was quite nervous, but she has gradually learned to trust our volunteers and is growing in confidence every day. While she may be shy around new people, she warms up with patience and kindness. She is a timid, sweet-natured girl, who gets along very well with the dogs she has met at the shelter and would likely benefit from the company of a calm, friendly canine companion in her new home, however, that is not a condition of her adoption. Kimmie walks very nicely on the lead, keeping a gentle, relaxed pace. She particularly enjoys her walks around the fields, where she takes great interest in stopping to sniff and explore all the different scents along the way. Because of her sensitive nature, we feel Kimmie would be best suited to a quieter home where she can continue to build her confidence at her own pace. An adult home or a household with older teenage children would be ideal, as they are more likely to understand her need for patience and gentle handling. With the right home, Kimmie has so much love to give and will make a loyal and devoted companion.

About Kimmie

What life with Kimmie looks like

Kimmie is a young adult lurcher dog waiting at ISPCA in Dublin.

An young adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. Two reasonable walks a day plus play time is usually enough. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇮🇪Adopting from Ireland

Irish shelters require a home check (often phone or video) and an adoption contract. Animals are vaccinated, chipped, and registered. Cross-border placements to mainland Europe require the rabies titer test (TRACES system).

Frequently asked

Adopting Kimmie, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Kimmie?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. ISPCA handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Kimmie on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Kimmie if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — ISPCA will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Kimmie already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Kimmie isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with ISPCA early rather than rehoming privately; they know Kimmie and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (EN). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
