Kismet

Mixed Breed · Male · Young · 3 years

Kismet is a male dog born in 10/2023, with a shoulder height of about 58 cm and a wonderfully friendly nature. Sometimes life takes completely unexpected turns. Kismet has more than earned his name, because his path into our care was anything but planned. Yet perhaps it was meant to happen exactly this way, because now he too has the chance at a new life. From the very start, this handsome boy has shown himself to be very sweet, people-oriented and affectionate. He enjoys being close to people and approaches his surroundings openly and in a friendly way. With his gentle nature and his charming gaze, he wins hearts over in no time. Right now, only one thing is missing for his happiness: a family that will show him how beautiful a sheltered dog's life can be. A warm bed, loving people by his side and many shared adventures would make Kismet's happiness complete. For Kismet, we are hoping for a loving foster home or, of course, his forever home, where he can settle in peacefully and have the time he needs. We do not know his past, so we cannot say whether he has ever lived in a house. New impressions and everyday sounds such as the vacuum cleaner, the washing machine or other things that are routine for us may at first be unfamiliar to him. That is why Kismet is looking for people who will welcome him with patience, understanding and without expectations. He should have the opportunity to get to know everything at his own pace and build trust. With his friendly and affectionate manner, he brings the best prerequisites for this. Who will give this special treasure the chance at his very own happy ending? Perhaps his home is already waiting for him right now. Kismet is neutered, vaccinated, microchipped and will be placed with a protection contract after a positive pre-adoption check. Transport departure possible from 13.11.2026! General note about our animals: Our dogs in Romania are visited regularly so that we can continually reassess their behavior and development. These personal impressions help us greatly in presenting each individual dog as accurately as possible. Nevertheless, we would like to point out that a dog may behave differently in a new environment, with new people, new routines and new impressions. This is completely normal and part of every process of change. Many dogs even open up more quickly in a home and show sides of themselves that were not visible at the shelter. Our assessments are therefore based on current observations but are not a guarantee of any particular behavior in a new environment. They are meant to provide guidance and show how the dog presents itself at the shelter, and what potential lies within him. We are convinced that with patience, understanding and a loving environment, every dog can find his way and continue to develop in a positive direction.

About Kismet

What life with Kismet looks like

Kismet is a young adult mixed breed dog waiting at Vierbeiner in Not e.V. in Germany.

A young adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. Two reasonable walks a day plus play time is usually enough. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Dogs and cats typically leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with an EU pet passport.

Frequently asked

Adopting Kismet, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Kismet?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Vierbeiner in Not e.V. handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Kismet on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Kismet if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Vierbeiner in Not e.V. will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Transport is usually a separate cost, so ask for the exact figure before you commit.
Is Kismet already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Kismet isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Vierbeiner in Not e.V. early rather than rehoming privately; they know Kismet and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
