Kismet

Poodle · Female · Adult · 5 years

30-09-26 Kismet is a lovely, happy girl who has come into our care from a breeder. She is a semi-brave little girl who wants to be our friend, but just can't quite get there yet. If we need to pick her up, Kismet will lie down and accept the handling, and she will offer little kisses on our hands while wagging her tail. These small signs show that she is trying her best, even though she is still a little unsure. Kismet gets on wonderfully with her kennel friends and relies on their company for comfort, so she will need a kind resident dog in her new home to help guide her and give her the reassurance she needs as she settles in and finds her paws. As Kismet has never lived in a home before, she will need to learn all about house training, lead training and the other basics of home life. Her new family will need to give her plenty of time, patience and encouragement while she gets used to her new surroundings. She can live with older, dog-savvy teens aged 16+ who are sensible and will allow her time to settle in. Kismet has arrived very underweight, so she will need a nutritious diet to help her reach and maintain a healthy weight. This will need to be continued in her new home. She also has a small umbilical hernia, which will be addressed at the time of her spay. Kismet is a sweet little girl who is clearly trying hard to be brave, and we hope that with the support of a kind canine companion and a loving, patient family, she will slowly gain confidence and discover just how lovely life in a home can be. She has a travel document. This dog can be homed with a resident dog.

About Kismet

What life with Kismet looks like

Kismet is a small adult poodle dog waiting at Many Tears Animal Rescue in Llanelli.

An adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. Two reasonable walks a day plus play time is usually enough. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇬🇧Adopting from United Kingdom

UK shelters work under the Pet Travel Scheme (post-Brexit, the EU pet passport is not valid; a UK Animal Health Certificate is required for travel into the EU). Most UK rescues focus on domestic placements but some work with EU partners.

Frequently asked

Adopting Kismet, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Kismet?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Many Tears Animal Rescue handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Kismet on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Kismet if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Many Tears Animal Rescue will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. UK adopters: post-Brexit travel into the EU requires an Animal Health Certificate. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Kismet already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Kismet isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Many Tears Animal Rescue early rather than rehoming privately; they know Kismet and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (EN). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
