adoption requirements adoption process Now request this animal! adoption requirements adoption process Now request this dog! Klaus has found a home! His story: Klaus is a young dog whose tender heart is currently facing a great challenge. Klaus stands out with a unique fur pattern. With an estimated height of 45 cm and a sporty weight of 13–15 kg, he will likely continue to grow but will remain medium-sized. Internally, he is currently filled with a lot of insecurity, which makes his life in the shelter unbearable. Klaus was brought to the shelter with his mother by dog catchers. The loud and stressful life there clearly takes a toll on him; he is completely overwhelmed, extremely shy, and retreats when someone enters his kennel. However, it is clear that he would love to step out of his shell and build trust. This sensitive young dog has outgrown his puppy paws and is in the middle of puberty. This phase is turbulent for any growing individual, but for Klaus, an additional challenge is added: he is blind in his right eye. His one-sided vision impairment requires special consideration and clear, reliable structures to give him the orientation and sense of security he desperately needs. In him, hunting dog genes might be hidden – a hint at his deep desire for a close bond and a task. But currently, these inclinations are still hidden under a thick layer of fear. He needs confident, calm, and patient people who are ready to meet him with empathy and structure. His compatibility with other dogs has not been tested yet; we do not know if he gets along with cats. Adopting Klaus is a heart project. You do not get a "ready-made" dog, but a rough diamond that requires time and loving guidance. His future people should be aware that they will help him overcome his fear, give him security in his insecurity, and show him the world outside the shelter. Those who win Klaus's trust will receive a partner who will love deeply and loyally. It is worth fighting for. Klaus travels neutered, microchipped, vaccinated, dewormed, and treated for fleas to his home, together with his EU home certificate. A positive But also an experienced foster home would be a good start to a happy future. Are you ready to give Klaus the chance to finally step out of his shell and grow into the brave dog he is inside? We heartily thank Teddy Farms for the name sponsorship! Date: 07.12.

Vermittlungsvoraussetzungen Vermittlungsablauf Jetzt dieses Tier anfragen! Vermittlungsvoraussetzungen Vermittlungsablauf Jetzt diesen Hund anfragen! About Klaus

What life with Klaus looks like

Klaus is a medium-sized puppy/kitten mixed breed dog waiting at Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. in München.

Puppies need routine, gentle socialization, and roughly two short outings a day for the first year. The first six months are the formative window — house-training, leash work, and quiet exposure to traffic, other dogs, and unfamiliar people happen now or not at all. Expect early-morning wake-ups and a few months of chewing.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Klaus, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Klaus?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Klaus on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Klaus if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Klaus already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Klaus isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. early rather than rehoming privately; they know Klaus and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
