adoption requirements adoption process Adopt this animal now! adoption requirements adoption process Our little Uncle can make a direct journey to his final destination! His story: Bistrita, Romania. Already Pippi Langstrumpf named her horse and best friend "NAME0" back then. He is also snow-white with wonderful brown spots in his fur. NAME0 was the perfect companion for Pippi Langstrumpf, he was friendly, eager to learn, kind, nerve-wracking, and reliable. All this we very much wish for the "Little Uncle," who currently has to wait out his time in the public shelter of Bistrita. In a cramped 2qm space, the little guy doesn't know what's happening to him. It's loud, tight, cold, and always wet. He would love to curl up in a soft bed and go for nice walks. NAME0 is currently a bit intimidated by the situation on site. But with Tudor, the helper who feeds him every day, he has already formed a friendship and even lets himself be stroked. For small dogs, the shelter is always a danger. They can be bitten by the larger dogs or get stuck in the bars and get hurt. They also have little resistance to the smell conditions. Therefore, we hope very much that he will soon be able to travel. NAME0 is about 1.5 years old and has a small size of around 36 cm. NAME0 is a real beauty! With his white fur and sweet, brown-spotted floppy ears, he is a real eye-catcher and draws all the attention… 🙂 NAME0 wishes for a more rural home, as city life is nothing for the little, sensitive puppy. He should have little hustle and bustle and many places to retreat to, so he can settle in and get used to everything in peace.

About Kleiner Onkel

What life with Kleiner Onkel looks like

Kleiner Onkel is a medium-sized adult mixed breed dog waiting at Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. in München.

An adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. Two reasonable walks a day plus play time is usually enough. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Kleiner Onkel, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Kleiner Onkel?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Kleiner Onkel on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Kleiner Onkel if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Kleiner Onkel already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Kleiner Onkel isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. early rather than rehoming privately; they know Kleiner Onkel and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
