Knox

Mixed Breed · Male · Young · 3 years

Knox is vaccinated, chipped, dewormed, neutered, veterinary examined and has an EU passport. A very loving hello to you two-legged friends, My name is Knox and I was born around June 2023 and have a shoulder height of approximately 36 cm. Currently I live in the Herzsprung animal shelter and am waiting here for the people who would finally like to give me a loving home. Although the staff here take very good care of me, I wish for nothing more than to share my life with my own family. I am a very loving, friendly and open-minded dog. With my cheerful nature and my open character, I often manage to win people's hearts after a short time. I enjoy the closeness of my humans very much and I am happy about any attention they give me. By character, I am a life-loving dog who goes through life curiously. I am interested in my surroundings and love to discover new things. I especially like to go for walks with my owners. There is always something exciting to see, smell or explore for me. Despite my cheerful and lively side, I also bring a pleasant calmness. In everyday life, I show myself balanced and enjoy it to relax together after an eventful day. I also enjoy the stroking hands of my owners. For my future life, I would like to learn a few things. Therefore, I wish for people who enjoy practicing with me and showing me the world together. I get along very well with other dogs. I meet them friendly and socially and could therefore easily move into a family as a second dog. I also show myself friendly and open to children. The only important thing is that they already understand how to treat a dog respectfully and lovingly. Then I can imagine a harmonious coexistence very well. You should know that HD has been diagnosed in me, but I do not currently need any medication and I cope very well in everyday life. Nevertheless, my future owners should also keep this in mind in the future. Now the most important thing is missing for my happiness: a loving and caring family. Maybe the place is waiting for you where I can stay forever. About Knox

What life with Knox looks like

Knox is a young adult mixed breed dog waiting at Tierheim Herzsprung.

An young adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. Two reasonable walks a day plus play time is usually enough. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Knox, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Knox?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Tierheim Herzsprung handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Knox on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Knox if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Tierheim Herzsprung will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Knox already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Knox isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Tierheim Herzsprung early rather than rehoming privately; they know Knox and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
