adoption requirements adoption process Now request this animal! adoption requirements adoption process Now request this dog! Knuddel has found a home! His story: May we introduce? Knuddel, a puppy whose name fits him perfectly – for once you've seen him, you understand why this little polar bear puppy simply must be cuddled. He was found together with his sister Alania in a remote village, about 70 kilometers from Bistrița. Both were severely underweight, full of parasites, and completely weakened by a massive worm infestation. But Knuddel was lucky: He was rescued, cared for, and finally traveled to a loving foster home in Germany, where he is now being nurtured and can finally enjoy life. Knuddel is about 4 months old, currently around 35 cm tall, and is expected to be of medium size. The foster home describes him as "a little polar bear in puppy form," incredibly cuddly, people-oriented, and with a soft, warm nature. Anyone who has ever had his little paws on their lap or felt his gaze knows immediately: This little guy has something very special. He is playful, curious, sometimes a bit cheeky – just as a young puppy should be. At the same time, he has a clever head: He already masters basic commands like sit, stay, and down, learning much through observation and orienting himself strongly to the confident only dog of the foster home. Knuddel is almost house-trained, reliably indicating when he needs to go out, and already runs well on a leash. Even next to a horse, he has shown remarkable composure. On the farm, he met horses, donkeys, and pigs curiously, friendly, and without fear. With the only dog of the foster home, he gets along very well. He has also learned to be patient with his signal at mealtime and shows no food aggression towards people. In the car, he travels calmly, and restaurant visits are mostly handled with flair. His first few hours of alone time have also been spent peacefully. Of course, despite all his progress, Knuddel is still in the puppy and young dog phase – and with it, puberty is approaching, where young dogs like to test boundaries and suddenly "forget" some things they've learned. To continue his wonderful development, he needs people in his new home who will lovingly, patiently, and consistently continue to work with him. A dog training class that works with positive reinforcement would be ideal for Knuddel, because he learns incredibly well and responds particularly effectively to gentle methods. Knuddel is a young dog with great potential: cuddly, eager to learn, cheerful, social, and ready to explore the world with his people. Whether walks, head work, cuddle sessions, or small adventures – Knuddel is enthusiastic about everything, as long as his family is by his side. He will be microchipped, vaccinated, dewormed, and flea-treated, and will be rehomed with an EU pet passport. After a positive assessment, would you like to show this little polar bear puppy how wonderful a nurtured life can be – and give him a forever home where love, security, and shared learning are daily companions? A heartfelt thank you goes to Andrea, who gave Knuddel his name and thus gave him an identity and a real chance at a new life. As of: 05.12.

Vermittlungsvoraussetzungen Vermittlungsablauf Jetzt dieses Tier anfragen! Vermittlungsvoraussetzungen Vermittlungsablauf Jetzt diesen Hund anfragen! Stand: 05.12.2025

About Knuddel

What life with Knuddel looks like

Knuddel is a large puppy/kitten mixed breed dog waiting at Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. in München.

Puppies need routine, gentle socialization, and roughly two short outings a day for the first year. The first six months are the formative window — house-training, leash work, and quiet exposure to traffic, other dogs, and unfamiliar people happen now or not at all. Expect early-morning wake-ups and a few months of chewing.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Knuddel, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Knuddel?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Knuddel on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Knuddel if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Knuddel already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Knuddel isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. early rather than rehoming privately; they know Knuddel and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
