Koby

Mixed Breed · Male · Adult · 5 years

Koby is a very loveable cross breed. He looks quite unique and we are not sure what breeds he is made up of but he sure is cute. He came into us from the RSPCA having been signed over from a multi dog household. Kobe is currently on a weight loss journey as he came to the centre very overweight and this will need to continue in the home. He enjoys playing with toys (soft specifically) but may need some encouragement (make it exciting) before he starts to play by himself. He loves cuddles too and is a really friendly dog. He has some long hair which will need brushing at least once every week to minimise the risk of matts. He tolerates being brushed so we are doing some desensitisation with it to make it a fun activity! Koby walks well on the lead, rarely pulling. He would prefer to walk away from loud roads as he can be a bit frantic on them. he is very needy for attention and will launch into your arms if given the opportunity! He needs to learn to do things by himself and not just look for humans for cuddles. if he is ignored he is very good at playing / exploring by himself though, so his new adopters will need to continue this otherwise he could develop bad separation anxiety if given cuddles 24/7. He does show appeasement at times where he will roll over on his back or cower, he will need owners who will know the difference between wanting belly rubs and needing some space. Overall he is a very sweet dog who would love a sofa of his own to have as many cuddles as he wants on! About Koby

What life with Koby looks like

Koby is a adult mixed breed dog waiting at Bristol Animal Rescue Centre in Bristol.

An adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. Two reasonable walks a day plus play time is usually enough. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇬🇧Adopting from United Kingdom

UK shelters work under the Pet Travel Scheme (post-Brexit, the EU pet passport is not valid; a UK Animal Health Certificate is required for travel into the EU). Most UK rescues focus on domestic placements but some work with EU partners.

Frequently asked

Adopting Koby, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Koby?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Bristol Animal Rescue Centre handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Koby on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Koby if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Bristol Animal Rescue Centre will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. UK adopters: post-Brexit travel into the EU requires an Animal Health Certificate. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Koby already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Koby isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Bristol Animal Rescue Centre early rather than rehoming privately; they know Koby and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (EN). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
