Adopt Koda

German Shepherd · Male · Young · 1 year

Meet Koda, our handsome Spitz cross! Koda is a young, active and affectionate boy who loves spending time with people and being involved in whatever is going on around him. Full of character, he is sure to keep his new owners smiling. Koda is looking for enthusiastic owners who can continue his training and help him build confidence as he learns about the world around him. He can be unsure around some dogs and has shown some reactive behaviours, but he is already making great progress and has successfully made friends with suitable dogs. Koda would prefer to be the only dog in the home so he can focus on settling in and continuing his training, although he would enjoy having dog friends out and about. Due to his energetic and reactive nature, he is also looking for a cat-free home. As Koda can be vocal and easily overwhelmed in busy environments, he would benefit from living in a quieter area with access to calmer walking routes. He will also require a private garden where he can relax, play and continue building his confidence in a familiar environment. Koda is a fun, rewarding dog with lots of potential and is looking for owners who can give him the guidance, patience and commitment he needs to thrive. If you have already completed our online rehoming form and would like to know more about Koda, you can e-mail our rehoming team on to register your interest. tch for the dog in question.

About Koda

What life with Koda looks like

Koda is a small young adult german shepherd dog waiting at Battersea Dogs & Cats Home in London.

An young adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. Two reasonable walks a day plus play time is usually enough. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇬🇧Adopting from United Kingdom

UK shelters work under the Pet Travel Scheme (post-Brexit, the EU pet passport is not valid; a UK Animal Health Certificate is required for travel into the EU). Most UK rescues focus on domestic placements but some work with EU partners.

Frequently asked

Adopting Koda, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Koda?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Battersea Dogs & Cats Home handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Koda on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Koda if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Battersea Dogs & Cats Home will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. UK adopters: post-Brexit travel into the EU requires an Animal Health Certificate. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Koda already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Koda isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Battersea Dogs & Cats Home early rather than rehoming privately; they know Koda and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (EN). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
