Kokkari

Mixed Breed · Male · Puppy · 5 months

Kokkari is Vlads brother and shares a story that could hardly be sadder for two such young dogs. The two were discovered on the roadside on their way from Maramureș to Cluj. They were found near a large dead animal, completely emaciated and full of internal and external parasites. Two puppies who clearly did not belong there and urgently needed help. We do not know whether Kokkari had ever experienced friendly touches or human contact before. Perhaps he was unfamiliar with human touch, perhaps he was simply terrified in this situation - without a familiar environment and without people to orient himself towards. Today, Kokkari is described as friendly. He gets along with other dogs and cats, bringing good conditions for his future life. Kokkari has no tail. According to the available information, it is possible that he was born without one; however, we do not know the cause for sure. For Kokkari, this peculiarity does not make him any less lovable. Kokkari is still a young dog who has much to learn. A home, house training, harness and leash, car rides, household noises, visitors, walks in a new environment, staying calm and later being left alone for short periods - all of this does not have to work automatically. His future owners should therefore give him time and build new things up in a small step, friendly and without pressure. Puberty is also part of Kokkari's life. During this time, previously learned things can suddenly be questioned again, concentration can fluctuate and the environment can be more interesting than the person on the other end of the leash at times. This is a normal part of development and not a reason to become impatient. Loving consistency, clear structures and a positive dog school can help Kokkari develop into a secure adult dog. Optically, a share of a livestock guardian dog could have been mixed in Kokkari. This cannot be determined based on his appearance, so we are only talking about a possible share. Livestock guardian dogs were selected over many generations to act independently, observe their surroundings attentively and make decisions without constant human guidance. As a result, independence, vigilance and territorial behavior may become more pronounced with increasing age. Therefore, we are looking for people who are willing to deal with the possible characteristics of a livestock guardian dog. A more rural home with enough space and ideally a securely fenced garden would be nice. What is important are peace, clear and fair rules, reliability and an upbringing without harshness. A positive dog school, preferably with experience with livestock guardian dogs or their crossbreeds, can be a valuable support. Since Kokkari is still growing and we do not know his exact genetic origin, we cannot predict his final size for sure. Based on his appearance, we currently estimate him to be likely medium to large in size. Therefore, whoever falls in love with Kokkari should not only see the handsome young dog, but also the adult Kokkari who will eventually become from him. Kokkari is chipped. As soon as all the conditions for his departure are met, he will travel with an EU pet passport. He will be placed with a protection contract and against a deposit. Kokkari would also be happy about a suitable foster home. Many thanks to his namesake Tanja, who gave Kokkari his name. Status: 03.10.2026 Further information on the topic of pre-control and deposit

Vermittlungsvoraussetzungen Vermittlungsablauf Jetzt dieses Tier anfragen! Vermittlungsvoraussetzungen Vermittlungsablauf Jetzt diesen Hund anfragen! About Kokkari

What life with Kokkari looks like

Kokkari is a large puppy/kitten mixed breed dog waiting at Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. in München.

Puppies need routine, gentle socialization, and roughly two short outings a day for the first year. The first six months are the formative window — house-training, leash work, and quiet exposure to traffic, other dogs, and unfamiliar people happen now or not at all. Expect early-morning wake-ups and a few months of chewing.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Kokkari, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Kokkari?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Kokkari on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Kokkari if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Kokkari already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Kokkari isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. early rather than rehoming privately; they know Kokkari and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
