Kołtunek

Mixed Breed · Male · Adult · 5 years

Kołtunek is a male cat who has been through more than any mouser should... yet he still manages to look at people with hope. It's not always visible, because his gaze can be threatening and stern... but if you look deeper. Kołtunek came to us in very poor condition. Today he's stable, well cared for, and the outlook is really good. But we won't make anything easy. This is not an "easy adoption." Kołtunek has chronic kidney failure, which means it requires attention and awareness that his condition might worsen one day. For now, he feels good, functions normally, and simply wants to live like a cat. A normal, home cat. Additionally, he is allergic, has a diet based on sweet potatoes and pork, and needs supplementation. So, you'll have to stick around for this gentleman for a while. We will pass on everything in detail, along with a schedule and our support. No stress. Kołtunek cooperates beautifully, takes his medication in food, and swallows everything better than any Dyson. Kołtunek is about 5 years old, though we suspect he might be a bit older. He is neutered, vaccinated, uses a litter box, and tests negative for FIV and FeLV. He drinks a lot of water, as expected from a kidney patient, and bravely holds on. He is not a fan of other cats, so we are looking for a home without animals or with very big sensitivity and commitment. He still has a dental procedure coming up, which we will perform at our expense. What is Kołtunek really like? He is a cat who loves play. There is something disarming in him. But in the shelter he just fades away, because it's not the place for him. He needs silence, his corner, and a person who gives him time and a sense of security. And then... he will come back to life. We are sure of that. We are looking for a temporary or permanent home, but one that understands that love for an animal is also responsibility. Kołtunek will give you everything he has, but someone first has to give him a chance. If you feel that this could be your cat, please get in touch.

PL·Show original

On potrzebuje ciszy, swojego kąta i człowieka, który da mu czas i poczucie bezpieczeństwa. I wtedy… on odżyje.

About Kołtunek

What life with Kołtunek looks like

Kołtunek is a adult mixed breed cat waiting at Fundacja EkoStraż in Wrocław.

An adult cat usually shows their personality within a week. Give them a quiet room with everything they need (food, water, litter, hiding spot) and let them choose when to explore. Don't force interaction — every cat decides for themselves when a new home counts as home.

🇵🇱Adopting from Poland

Polish shelters maintain established transport routes to Germany, Netherlands, Austria, and Sweden. Animals leave sterilized and chipped. Adoption fees are typically lower than in Western Europe (often €50–€150) but adopters cover transport.

Frequently asked

Adopting Kołtunek, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Kołtunek?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Fundacja EkoStraż handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Kołtunek on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Kołtunek if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Fundacja EkoStraż will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Kołtunek already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most cats on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Kołtunek isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Fundacja EkoStraż early rather than rehoming privately; they know Kołtunek and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (PL). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
