Komet

Male · Senior · 13 years

Komet is a curious and ravenous little Leopardgecko who loves going on foraging expeditions and then retreats to his little house contentedly after eating. He enjoys his quiet phases just as much as observing his surroundings. His tail looks a bit unusual, as he shed it in the past. Additionally, Komet had a calcium deficiency. Proper nutrition with all important nutrients is essential. A new home for Komet is being sought by responsible and well-informed people who are willing to provide him with everything he needs. An appropriately set up terrarium, varied feeding, and the willingness to cater to his special needs are prerequisites.

DE·Show original

About Komet

What life with Komet looks like

Komet is a small senior animal waiting at Zürcher Tierschutz in Zürich.

Every animal has their own temperament and history. The shelter knows Komet far better than any listing can convey — ask about daily routine, ideal household, and what kind of adopter they're hoping for.

Note from the shelter: Previously dropped tail, history of calcium deficiency requiring specialized diet and proper nutritional supplementation

🇨🇭Adopting from Switzerland

Swiss shelters require a home visit (Platzkontrolle) and proof of suitable accommodation. Cantons each have their own additional dog-keeping requirements (e.g. SKN training in some areas). Animals leave sterilized and chipped.

Frequently asked

Adopting Komet, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Komet?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Zürcher Tierschutz handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Komet on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Komet if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Zürcher Tierschutz will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Komet already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most animals on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Komet isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Zürcher Tierschutz early rather than rehoming privately; they know Komet and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
