adoption requirements adoption process Adopt this animal now! adoption requirements adoption process Konni can stay forever! Her story: The sweet Konni is the cheerful nature of the public shelter in Bistrita. And yet, she must sit in a cramped pen every day. But when she is allowed out, she zips around the courtyard, from person to person, collecting her cuddles 🙂 Konni gets along well with all the dogs and is always more submissive, cautious, and avoids any conflicts. A super loving, open, and careful female dog who seems grateful for the help she received. Because Konni had a serious car accident and was found severely injured on a field. Her left front leg was broken in multiple places and the bone was already highly infected. At first, it didn't look like the leg could be saved. But Konni was treated with antibiotics for a long time and underwent surgery in Romania. The wound has fully healed, and Konni uses her leg fully. However, it can be seen that it did not grow back completely straight. Konni will therefore never be a high-performance athlete, and long and strenuous hikes, running on a bike, or jogging tours should be avoided to not overburden the leg. Physiotherapy for targeted muscle building is recommended to strengthen her back and for her entire musculoskeletal system and coordination. Konni travels neutered, microchipped, vaccinated, treated for fleas, and dewormed. She also has her EU pet passport packed. She would also be very happy with a foster home. Who will give the sweet mouse her heart and a loving home? Thank you, NatNattersen, for naming Konni and giving her the chance for a new start and a happy dog life. Stand: 13.05.

Stand: 13.05.2024

About Konni

What life with Konni looks like

Konni is a large puppy/kitten mixed breed dog waiting at Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. in München.

Puppies need routine, gentle socialization, and roughly two short outings a day for the first year. The first six months are the formative window — house-training, leash work, and quiet exposure to traffic, other dogs, and unfamiliar people happen now or not at all. Expect early-morning wake-ups and a few months of chewing.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Konni, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Konni?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Konni on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Konni if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Konni already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Konni isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. early rather than rehoming privately; they know Konni and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
