Adopt Konrad

Mixed Breed · Male · Adult · 7 years

Vivacious, friendly, lively, compatible. August in Greece, unbearable heat for weeks... Nobody knew him, nobody had seen him before. Suddenly he was there, near the football field in Epanomi, like a matted flokati, hardly recognizable as a dog. He could barely move his legs, so weak and emaciated he was, and his extremely matted coat was causing him great pain. We thank the people who immediately informed our employee. Xenia took him to the vet right away. He was shaved and freed from the matted clumps. Since then, he has been recovering more and more each day. He has gained weight, the wounds have healed, and his coat has regrown. Now Konrad is a handsome, vivacious, friendly, lively, and compatible dog. Konrad is already walking quite well on a leash. A little cautious at first, but he warms up soon. So far we have found out that he was probably kept in a small backyard in Epanomi. He never went out, so the neighbors didn't know him. He lived there alone, probably only fed on scraps that were thrown to him. Finally, he was probably abandoned, maybe someone thought he was already dead and disposed of him like that. Anyone wanting to offer Konrad a loving home should take note of the following: - Konrad knows almost nothing about the environment, so everything needs to be introduced slowly - A rural home, without much stress and traffic would be good for him - Ideally, another dog could be there to keep him company, someone he has missed for so long - Due to his severe undernourishment when he was found, he is now a bit prone to food aggression and even though you give him treats, you need to make sure no fingers are around, but with training and increasing confidence on his side, he will soon learn how to take treats. - Konrad needs daily coat care because his coat is very fine and gets matted quickly, and every three months he should go to the groomer. We can only guess if he might be a Poodle mix. And most importantly: KONRAD especially needs loving guidance combined with a lot of patience, then he will soon show the wonderful, patient and friendly dog that is inside him. They are all vaccinated, microchipped and have an EU passport. They are checked for Mediterranean diseases according to their age. See information on our homepage. Every dog we place makes room for one of those dogs that struggle to survive hungry and emaciated.

lebensfroh, freundlich, aufgeweckt, verträglich August in Griechenland, unerträgliche Hitze seit Wochen....Niemand kannte ihn, niemand hatte ihn zuvor gesehen. AUFENTHALTSORT

About Konrad

What life with Konrad looks like

Konrad is a adult mixed breed dog waiting at A.C.E. Animal Compassion Europe - Tiere in Not e.V. in Greece.

An adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. Two reasonable walks a day plus play time is usually enough. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇬🇷Adopting from Greece

Greek shelters often partner with Northern European rescue groups for placements. Animals are sterilized, vaccinated, and chipped before adoption. Fees vary widely depending on whether the shelter is municipal or NGO-run.

Frequently asked

Adopting Konrad, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Konrad?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. A.C.E. Animal Compassion Europe - Tiere in Not e.V. handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Konrad on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Konrad if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — A.C.E. Animal Compassion Europe - Tiere in Not e.V. will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Konrad already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Konrad isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with A.C.E. Animal Compassion Europe - Tiere in Not e.V. early rather than rehoming privately; they know Konrad and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
