Konstantin

Mixed Breed · Unknown · Young · 1 year

Konstantin was found in Balve and was not reported missing. We quickly realized why—Konstantin is quite the “odd bird.” He doesn’t like his own species at all, even when there’s no hen around. Being kept confined has probably left him in a pretty bad mood most of the time. He doesn’t really welcome just anyone into his enclosure. Who can help us with Konstantin? He’s currently being temporarily housed in a rabbit enclosure.

DE·Show original

About Konstantin

What life with Konstantin looks like

Konstantin is a young adult mixed breed bird waiting at Tierheim Iserlohn in Iserlohn.

Birds are long-lived, social, and noisy. The species and individual history matter enormously — ex-companion parrots can carry strong attachments and trauma. Ask the shelter about their daily routine, diet, and whether they'd do best alone or with a flockmate.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

Paperwork, vet checks and transport rules differ by species and by country. Ask the shelter what is included and what you will need to arrange before you commit.

Frequently asked

Adopting Konstantin, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Konstantin?: Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Tierheim Iserlohn handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Konstantin on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Konstantin if I live in another country?: Sometimes. Whether a bird can move between countries depends on the species and the rules in both countries, and some species need permits or have restrictions. Ask Tierheim Iserlohn what paperwork and transport they require, and check the import rules of your country before you commit.
Is Konstantin already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?: What a bird comes with (vet checks, vaccinations, identification, paperwork) varies by shelter and species. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask Tierheim Iserlohn directly what is included and what Konstantin still needs.
What happens if Konstantin isn't the right fit?: Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Tierheim Iserlohn early rather than rehoming privately; they know Konstantin and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?: TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
