Kora

Mixed Breed · Female

Kora is a wonderful and beautifully mixed-breed female dog. She was born in 2019 and thus has a fantastic age, excluding pubertal foolishness and leaving seniority far behind. With a shoulder height of 59 cm and a weight of 22 kg, she is still quite manageable and suitable for active people to handle. Kora is, of course, neutered, vaccinated, and comes with a high-quality health certificate. In Kora’s ID, it states that she is a Boxer mix, but we do see some Herdshund-like aspects in her appearance and character. She is not suitable for beginners and seeks a home with a yard, but she does not necessarily have to live on a farm. Our Kora generally has a calm and people-oriented nature. She has developed a good basic obedience and walks well on a leash. This has been due to good training by our friends in Sevilla. Now she needs people who will give her a chance to build on this and show her wonderful character. Kora was already adopted but was returned to the shelter because her owners did not understand that a Herdshund cannot be trained like a Herding dog. Kora seeks a companion, a team partner, and if she finds one, she is a fantastic companion in all life situations. If, however, she does not receive the leadership she needs, she, as a typical working dog, will make her own decisions, pull and tug on the leash, guard resources, and take over the world. At her current foster home, our noble lady proves what she is capable of, namely a wonderful friend for all, who gets along well with other dogs (even if she does not necessarily need them in her home). Kora now seeks a permanent, stable home with people who have dog experience, can provide her with guidance, and shower her with love. She is ready for a new beginning and will surely bring great joy to her new family.

DE·Show original

About Kora

What life with Kora looks like

Kora is a small adult mixed breed dog waiting at Tierschutzverein ARCA e.V. in Gernsbach.

An adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. Two reasonable walks a day plus play time is usually enough. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Kora, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Kora?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Tierschutzverein ARCA e.V. handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Kora on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Kora if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Tierschutzverein ARCA e.V. will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Kora already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Kora isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Tierschutzverein ARCA e.V. early rather than rehoming privately; they know Kora and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
