Kovu

Mixed Breed · Male · Adult · 7 years

Kovu is a playful and food-loving boy who wants a safe home with good outdoor opportunities. He can live with older children and patient people. Hi, my name is Kovu! Do you like to play? Then I'll be happy, because I love playing! My favorite game is hunting, both for strings and insects. When I catch the toy, I carry it proudly around for a while before I want you to play more with me. If you don't get the hint, I'll often meow until you understand. I have a lot of energy, so a good playmate is essential in my new home. I also want good and safe outdoor areas where I can explore, climb and play. Maybe I'll catch a fly or two too? I'm not very cuddly, but I can lie next to you and relax or rub against your leg if there's food around. I can also rub against your guests when I become confident in them, but I usually keep my distance until they have passed my quality control. I think I may become more affectionate over time when I get my own human family that I really trust. I like to be alone and often lie down by myself, but I'll come visit you during the day and chat with you.

About Kovu

What life with Kovu looks like

Kovu is a adult mixed breed cat waiting at Dyrebeskyttelsen Oslo in Oslo.

An adult cat usually shows their personality within a week. Give them a quiet room with everything they need (food, water, litter, hiding spot) and let them choose when to explore. Don't force interaction — every cat decides for themselves when a new home counts as home.

🇳🇴Adopting from Norway

Norwegian rescues require thorough background checks. Animals leave with a Nordic pet passport and full vetting. Norway is outside the EU so import rules differ slightly — TRACES applies.

Frequently asked

Adopting Kovu, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Kovu?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Dyrebeskyttelsen Oslo handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Kovu on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Kovu if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Dyrebeskyttelsen Oslo will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Kovu already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most cats on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Kovu isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Dyrebeskyttelsen Oslo early rather than rehoming privately; they know Kovu and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (NO). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
