Kozak

Male · Senior · 10 years

Here is Kozak, an impressive resident of our shelter, Palucha, with distinctive brown-black, glossy fur that combines the traits of a German Shepherd and a Belgian Shepherd. His sparkling eyes are full of intelligence and energy, immediately catching the attention of anyone who meets him. It must be noted right away that upon analysis of his physical characteristics and behavior, his age has definitely been overestimated. Kozak is an exceptionally energetic and strong dog whose temperament makes him capable of pulling on the leash, showing his strength and determination. He is confident and brave, sometimes even a little 'playful', which perfectly explains why he owes such an original and unique name. At the same time, in interactions with humans, he is a loyal, devoted companion, free of any signs of aggression. This wonderful dog requires a caregiver who is consistent and committed to working with the dog, ready to dedicate time to his training and play. Kozak will find his best match with a person who understands his needs and provides him with the right amount of physical and mental stimulation. At the same time, due to the dog's size and strength, we do not recommend him for a home with very young children. The stress associated with staying in an animal shelter strongly affects Kozak's health. He is thin and suffers from diarrhea, which is evidence of how much he struggles in the kennel. He needs space and freedom, which unfortunately he cannot find in the animal shelter. He also needs his own person who will love him as he is. Our volunteer hearts have long been stolen! Kozak dreams of a caregiver who will provide him with stability and love. By adopting him, you will gain a loyal, devoted friend who will repay you with boundless loyalty and immense daily joy. And if you plan to participate in the longest dog tongue contest, a golden medal and financial reward are guaranteed! You will also meet Kozak and the rest of the group 6 at:

About Kozak

What life with Kozak looks like

Kozak is a large senior dog waiting at Schronisko Na Paluchu in Warsaw.

Senior dogs settle in faster than younger ones. They want a soft bed, predictable meals, and short, sniff-heavy walks rather than runs. Many senior rescues bond deeply within weeks because they understand exactly how good a stable home is. Expect occasional vet visits for joint or dental care.

Note from the shelter: Suffers from stress-related digestive issues in shelter environment, needs space and mental stimulation

🇵🇱Adopting from Poland

Polish shelters maintain established transport routes to Germany, Netherlands, Austria, and Sweden. Animals leave sterilized and chipped. Adoption fees are typically lower than in Western Europe (often €50–€150) but adopters cover transport.

Frequently asked

Adopting Kozak, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Kozak?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Schronisko Na Paluchu handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Kozak on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Kozak if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Schronisko Na Paluchu will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Kozak already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Kozak isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Schronisko Na Paluchu early rather than rehoming privately; they know Kozak and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (PL). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
