Krecik

Mixed Breed · Male

Found not by the roadside, but... in the middle of the road. Abandoned, wet. Being run over by a car was just a matter of time. Later it turned out that this old man could not see with one eye, and hardly at all with the other. Covered with dozens of ticks, and internally he was being eaten by parasites. A picture of poverty and despair. He was very lucky that someone stopped, took an interest, and brought him to us. Krecik is an old dog who probably never had anyone show him any heart or care. He didn't know a leash, he was afraid of a human voice, a caressing hand. It took us a long time to teach him basic behavior around people and gain his trust. Today Krecik is a quiet, walking-enthusiast old man who has rediscovered curiosity about the world. He gets along with other dogs, likes the company of female dog.

PL·Show original

Obraz nędzy i rozpaczy. Długo zajęło nam nauczenie go podstawowego obycia wśród ludzi i zyskanie jego zaufania.

About Krecik

What life with Krecik looks like

Krecik is a adult mixed breed dog waiting at Fundacja Niechciane i Zapomniane SOS Zwierząt (Łódź) in Poland.

An adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. Two reasonable walks a day plus play time is usually enough. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇵🇱Adopting from Poland

Polish shelters maintain established transport routes to Germany, Netherlands, Austria, and Sweden. Animals leave sterilized and chipped. Adoption fees are typically lower than in Western Europe (often €50–€150) but adopters cover transport.

Frequently asked

Adopting Krecik, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Krecik?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Fundacja Niechciane i Zapomniane SOS Zwierząt (Łódź) handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Krecik on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Krecik if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Fundacja Niechciane i Zapomniane SOS Zwierząt (Łódź) will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Krecik already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Krecik isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Fundacja Niechciane i Zapomniane SOS Zwierząt (Łódź) early rather than rehoming privately; they know Krecik and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (PL). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
