Krecik

Male · Senior · 12 years

Krecik is a dog who wins sympathy with his warm and honest character. Older, but full of spirit, he patiently waits for his better time by a person's side. Krecik loves walks and nature. Far from the animal shelter he relaxes and sniffs, as if trying to catch up with time and life that he didn't live. Krecik spent 10 years on a leash - without proper care and interest from people, just hanging on it. The animal shelter is Krecik's next, better stage in his journey, we believe it's not the last. Krecik has made great progress since arriving - he learned to walk on a leash, respond to calls. But above all, he has started building a relationship with people and learning to trust them. Krecik recognizes and is very happy to see his volunteers, on walks he no longer runs ahead but stays closer to the caregiver. He is not forward in contact, appreciates the presence of a person and the gentle scratch behind the ear. We imagine Krecik at home as a calm observer and companion of daily activities, best in the kitchen :). His passion is good treats. During walks we take breaks for valuable snacks, we treat him with a licking mat. In these moments Krecik forgets about the whole world, focuses 100% on eating and it's visible how nice it calms him down, how much joy it gives him. In contacts with other dogs Krecik needs time. He hasn't had many in his life, the leash doesn't give any chance for any, so very needed, mutual interactions. However, despite lack of previous experience, Krecik is already making first acquaintances, can walk side by side with calm dogs and respect the signals of walking companions. Before us is socializing Krecik with trips, in the plans his participation in promotional actions and checking how he will cope in the city. Previous experiences allow to suppose that Krecik will find himself even in an apartment, in a quieter urban space. What he needs is rather a stationary lifestyle, with routine and calmness. Krecik is looking for special people, who at the beginning won't have too high expectations towards him, but will have an open heart and readiness for gradual building of a common world - with Krecik for sure in many colors :). We ask for a chance for this beloved dog. Krecik's life has already been tested - now it's time for a quiet stop.

PL·Show original

Krecik uwielbia spacery i naturę. Agata 605555878 Marta 509640526 Jagoda 607189688

About Krecik

What life with Krecik looks like

Krecik is a medium-sized senior dog waiting at Schronisko Na Paluchu in Warsaw.

Senior dogs settle in faster than younger ones. They want a soft bed, predictable meals, and short, sniff-heavy walks rather than runs. Many senior rescues bond deeply within weeks because they understand exactly how good a stable home is. Expect occasional vet visits for joint or dental care.

Note from the shelter: Requires patience and gentle handling due to past trauma from 10 years of being chained

🇵🇱Adopting from Poland

Polish shelters maintain established transport routes to Germany, Netherlands, Austria, and Sweden. Animals leave sterilized and chipped. Adoption fees are typically lower than in Western Europe (often €50–€150) but adopters cover transport.

Frequently asked

Adopting Krecik, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Krecik?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Schronisko Na Paluchu handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Krecik on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Krecik if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Schronisko Na Paluchu will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Krecik already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Krecik isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Schronisko Na Paluchu early rather than rehoming privately; they know Krecik and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (PL). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
