Krokiet

Male · Young · 1 year

Krokiecik is a young, one-year-old dog who hasn't experienced much in life, and certainly not much good. Eventually he ended up at an animal shelter and was adopted rather quickly. Unfortunately, a few weeks later he returned to the shelter's kennel. It turned out that despite assurances, the caregiver didn't have the right knowledge and wasn't able to properly care for such a sensitive dog. The method of forcing obedience unfortunately had the worst results. Krokiecik is now very frightened, it's hard for him to find his way in the cold kennel after being in a home. He's still a very young dog who relies heavily on his guide. Therefore, he needs a wise and calm caregiver who will provide him with a sense of security and friendship, not just strict discipline. At the animal shelter during walks he doesn't pull and doesn't really pay attention to other dogs. He only reacts when he is aggressively approached. From what we know, he was well-behaved at home, but he definitely needs socialization, care and a lot of love. Our little one needs to gain confidence, and a home that provides a safe and peaceful space will surely help him.

PL·Show original

Krokiecik to młody, roczny psiak, który w swoim życiu nie doświadczył jeszcze wiele, a na pewno niewiele dobrego. W końcu trafił do schroniska i został dość szybko adoptowany. Niestety kilka tygodni później wrócił do schroniskowego boksu. Biuro Przyjęć i Adopcji 228681579

About Krokiet

What life with Krokiet looks like

Krokiet is a medium-sized young adult dog waiting at Schronisko Na Paluchu in Warsaw.

An young adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. Two reasonable walks a day plus play time is usually enough. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

Note from the shelter: Traumatized rescue requiring patient rehabilitation and gentle handling due to previous negative experiences with forceful training methods

🇵🇱Adopting from Poland

Polish shelters maintain established transport routes to Germany, Netherlands, Austria, and Sweden. Animals leave sterilized and chipped. Adoption fees are typically lower than in Western Europe (often €50–€150) but adopters cover transport.

Frequently asked

Adopting Krokiet, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Krokiet?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Schronisko Na Paluchu handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Krokiet on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Krokiet if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Schronisko Na Paluchu will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Krokiet already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Krokiet isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Schronisko Na Paluchu early rather than rehoming privately; they know Krokiet and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (PL). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
