Kuin

Male · Adult · 6 years

February 20, 2017 Kuin needs people who can handle his little quirks, so people with experience who can read a dog well and give him affection while still being consistent about what is right and what is wrong, or simply react appropriately in certain situations. He defends his food and can be a bit stubborn like a terrier. The pension manager has no problems with him and hopes that someone will find who also has the right touch. He is very clean, listens well, likes to cuddle and play. He is basically nervous by nature and a suitable level of stimulation could give him more peace. We have some videos where he is also very relaxed. In one, he is in a group of other dogs and there are no problems. Small dogs are his preference, as he can better gauge them. But also the boxer lady Tina, who is not exactly small, walks with him and that is okay for him. Kuin is certainly not a beginner dog, but we hope someone who falls in love with him and has the necessary peace and patience will give him his chance. January 12, 2017 Kuin can no longer stay with his family, so he moved into the pension and did not have to go to the Perrera. We will report as soon as we have more information.

DE·Show original

About Kuin

What life with Kuin looks like

Kuin is a large adult dog waiting at Tierhilfe Arme Pfoten in Arme Pfoten.

An adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. A larger dog like this one needs daily off-leash time when possible — a fenced yard or regular access to safe walking trails. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇨🇭Adopting from Switzerland

Swiss shelters require a home visit (Platzkontrolle) and proof of suitable accommodation. Cantons each have their own additional dog-keeping requirements (e.g. SKN training in some areas). Animals leave sterilized and chipped.

Frequently asked

Adopting Kuin, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Kuin?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Tierhilfe Arme Pfoten handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Kuin on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Kuin if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Tierhilfe Arme Pfoten will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Kuin already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Kuin isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Tierhilfe Arme Pfoten early rather than rehoming privately; they know Kuin and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
