Adopt Laika & Margarita

Mixed Breed · Female · Senior · 10 years

friendly, curious, know children and cats, house-trained Sometimes you make a decision for the good of the dog, not because you want to get rid of them, but because your living conditions have changed so much that you can no longer do justice to the dogs. Laika and Margarita are both from our animal shelter in Greece and have been with their family for several years. From a farm they now have to move into an apartment and there is not enough time to give them the attention they need. It's getting by, and the dogs don't have to leave their home at all costs. There should be again a place with a garden and lots of green around it. It would be nice if the 2 female dogs could stay together. Laika is a shepherd dog mix and was born in February 2021. She measures 56 cm and has been there since puppyhood. She is a playful, eager-to-learn female dog who loves being out and about. She looks after her people well. Margarita was born in October 2015 and came to Germany as an adult female dog. She is a bit smaller and measures 53 cm. She is a calm and cuddly female dog. However, Margarita is also very playful and has a strong prey drive in nature. With a slip lead, you are on the safe side. Both dogs have lived with children, horses, chickens and cats. Stray cats are already chased away and they know exactly which cats belong to the family. The dogs live in 04277 Leipzig and can be met there if interested.

AUFENTHALTSORT

About Laika & Margarita

What life with Laika & Margarita looks like

Laika & Margarita is a small senior mixed breed dog waiting at A.C.E. Animal Compassion Europe - Tiere in Not e.V. in Greece.

Senior dogs settle in faster than younger ones. They want a soft bed, predictable meals, and short, sniff-heavy walks rather than runs. Many senior rescues bond deeply within weeks because they understand exactly how good a stable home is. Expect occasional vet visits for joint or dental care.

🇬🇷Adopting from Greece

Frequently asked

Adopting Laika & Margarita, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Laika & Margarita?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. A.C.E. Animal Compassion Europe - Tiere in Not e.V. handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Laika & Margarita on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Laika & Margarita if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — A.C.E. Animal Compassion Europe - Tiere in Not e.V. will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Laika & Margarita already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Laika & Margarita isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with A.C.E. Animal Compassion Europe - Tiere in Not e.V. early rather than rehoming privately; they know Laika & Margarita and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
