Laki

Male · Senior · 11 years

THIS IS LAKI'S SECOND STAY AT THE ANIMAL SHELTER. THE FIRST TIME HE RETURNED HOME, THIS TIME THE CARETAKER GAVE UP ON HIM, AS Laki HAS CONSISTENTLY REFUSED TO WEAR A LEASH FOR SOME TIME NOW, MAKING WALKS WITH HIM WHILE LIVING IN AN APARTMENT IN THE CITY CENTER A MAJOR PROBLEM. WE MANAGED TO SOLVE THIS ISSUE AND NOW Laki IS A WONDERFUL COMPANION DURING WALKS AT THE ANIMAL SHELTER. HE WALKS BOLDLY, ELEGANTLY PASSES OTHER DOGS AND PEOPLE. HE DOES NOT SEEK CONFLICTS. HE RECOGNIZES FAMILIAR PEOPLE FROM A DISTANCE AND WELCOMES THEM ENTHUSIASTICALLY. STILL, HE CLEARLY SHOWS THAT HE DOES NOT WANT TO BE PETTED. HE IS VERY DELICATE AND SUBMISSIVE TOWARD DOGS, HE GETS ALONG WITH ANYONE WHO IS NICE TO HIM. WHAT DOES Laki LOVE? FOOD IN ANY FORM AND AT ANY TIME. HE WILL GO TO THE ENDS OF THE EARTH FOR SOMETHING DELICIOUS. BALLS. HE HAS LONG BEEN A CHAMPION AT CAUGHTING THEM IN MID-AIR. SENSITIVITY AND HIS OWN SPACE. Laki IS ACTUALLY AFRAID OF HUMANS. HE NEEDS TIME TO GRADUALLY BUILD STRONG RELATIONSHIPS. LAKI IS NO LONGER THE YOUNGEST. HE NEEDS PEACE, WARMTH, KINDNESS. IT IS HIGH TIME HE STILL GETS TO ENJOY A HOME, TO BE WITH A FAMILY. WE ARE URGEFULLY LOOKING FOR A PERSON WHO HAS SOME EXPERIENCE IN CARING FOR A DOG, BUT ABOVE ALL SOMEONE WHO WILL PROVIDE LAKI WITH HIS OWN SPACE. Laki SHOULD LIVE IN A HOUSE WITH A GARDEN. HE MAY BECOME A BROTHER TO ANOTHER DOG.

PL·Show original

To drugi pobyt Lakiego w schronisku. Znajome osoby rozpoznaje z daleka i wita entuzjastycznie. Wciąż jednak jasno daje znać, że nie chce być głaskany. W stosunku do psów jest bardzo delikatny i uległy, dogada się z każdym, kto nie będzie dla niego niemiły. Co kocha Laki? Jedzonko w każdej formie i w każdym momencie. Za czymś smacznym pójdzie na koniec świata. Piłeczki. Już dawno zdobył mistrzostwo w łapaniu ich w locie. Delikatność i własną przestrzeń. Laki tak naprawdę boi się ludzi. Potrzebuje czasu, żeby powoli budować mocne relacje. Lakuś nie jest już najmłodszy. Potrzebuje spokoju, ciepła, dobroci. To najwyższy czas by jeszcze zdążył nacieszyć się domem, zżyć z rodziną. Szukamy pilnie człowieka, który ma trochę doświadczenia w opiece nad psem, ale przede wszystkim kogoś kto zapewni Lakiemu przestrzeń należącą tylko do niego. Laki powinien zamieszkać w domu z ogrodem. Może zostać bratem dla innego psa. Ania 579529083 Zosia 792585686 Behawiorystka 514360970

About Laki

What life with Laki looks like

Laki is a medium-sized senior dog waiting at Schronisko Na Paluchu in Warsaw.

Senior dogs settle in faster than younger ones. They want a soft bed, predictable meals, and short, sniff-heavy walks rather than runs. Many senior rescues bond deeply within weeks because they understand exactly how good a stable home is. Expect occasional vet visits for joint or dental care.

Note from the shelter: Fearful of people, needs time to build trust, requires gentle handling and personal space

🇵🇱Adopting from Poland

Polish shelters maintain established transport routes to Germany, Netherlands, Austria, and Sweden. Animals leave sterilized and chipped. Adoption fees are typically lower than in Western Europe (often €50–€150) but adopters cover transport.

Frequently asked

Adopting Laki, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Laki?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Schronisko Na Paluchu handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Laki on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Laki if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Schronisko Na Paluchu will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Laki already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Laki isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Schronisko Na Paluchu early rather than rehoming privately; they know Laki and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (PL). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
