Adopt Lancelot

Mixed Breed · Male · Senior · 9 years

Age: Born around 2019 Gender: male neutered: yes Temperament: reserved, very quiet, freezes up when approached Size: approx. 50 cm Time in shelter: since August 2021 Hello from afar! I should tell you a bit about myself. Well, as long as I can do it from a distance, I feel pretty comfortable. I've been living in this shelter for quite some time now. For me, that means I have a safe roof over my fur, a dry sleeping spot, and even food to not have to fight for every day. Also, I got along really well with my pretty and equally shy zinge companion. Probably because we shared the same fate and both had to orient ourselves anew. However, she set off for a new life in Germany a while ago and, according to rumors, won the hearts of her people there. I'm so happy for her, even though the goodbye was painful. For a long time, my life was probably a constant struggle for survival with many sad experiences. All of this has grown my skepticism towards humans, and I feel uncomfortable in their presence. When bipeds approach, I remain frozen in place and don't try to flee. I just don't know how to behave and whether I can trust them. Still, I so desperately wish for a foster home where I can experience a lot of love – even though it means a big step for me. I need people with dog experience who have patience, understand my insecurity, and give me time to slowly thaw out. A quiet home without children and with a secure, fenced-in yard would be ideal for my start into a new life. There, I could build trust at my own pace – and maybe someday show what a loyal soul I have inside me. If you're interested in Lancelot, please fill out our interest form () or write us an email or a message on Facebook. Lancelot is ready to travel and can go with the next transport to Germany. Our dogs travel legally with Traces. Traces refers to the database system that monitors the entire animal transport within the EU. The dogs travel neutered (if old enough), vaccinated, microchipped, and dewormed, and have an EU passport. Additionally, for dogs over 12 months of age, a rapid test for the following Mediterranean diseases is conducted before travel arrangements: Lyme disease, Anaplasmosis, Ehrlichiosis, Dirofilariasis, and leishmaniasis. Alexandra M. has taken the paternity for Lancelot and ensures a full plate. Many thanks on behalf of the dogs!

About Lancelot

What life with Lancelot looks like

Lancelot is a medium-sized senior mixed breed dog waiting at Seelen für Seelchen e.V. in Alfter.

Senior dogs settle in faster than younger ones. They want a soft bed, predictable meals, and short, sniff-heavy walks rather than runs. Many senior rescues bond deeply within weeks because they understand exactly how good a stable home is. Expect occasional vet visits for joint or dental care.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Lancelot, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Lancelot?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Seelen für Seelchen e.V. handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Lancelot on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Lancelot if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Seelen für Seelchen e.V. will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Lancelot already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Lancelot isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Seelen für Seelchen e.V. early rather than rehoming privately; they know Lancelot and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
