Mixed Breed · Male

It seems that dogs respond more readily to names with two syllables and even better if the names end in i or y (Buddy, Molly, Benni, Lilli) because of their sweet sound. However, it is not necessary for a dog to keep the name it was given, perhaps following these rules: on the contrary, changing a dog's name is certainly positive and recommended for domestic animals that have suffered abuse or disrespectful detention, and in animal shelters they are often changed for these reasons. According to a study conducted by Budget Direct in collaboration with NeoMam Studios, male dogs are more likely to have human names without any other common meaning (unlike Bella or Luna, which work both as human names and as words). However, there are exceptions: the most popular male dog name in Turkey is Duman, which also means Smoke; Estonia has Leedi, which also means Lady; while the Japanese like to name their male dogs Sora, which means Sun. In Lithuania, Draugas is the preferred name for a male dog but also means Friend (a similar meaning to the English name Buddy, which ranks third in the list of the most used male names worldwide). However, Max is number one all over the world with a considerable margin: indeed, it is the most common name in 13 countries and gets more than double the points of the second-placed Charlie. Following Buddy, we then find: Rocky, Jack (the most preferred name overall also in Italy), Milo, Toby, Leo, Bruno, and Rex. Nevertheless, the name remains mainly a tool to attract the dog's attention using the preferred communication system of humans, namely verbal language, even though it is certain that we would achieve better results if we used vocalizations, which dogs use very frequently in a wide and varied range. But if the "name" serves to help the dog establish itself as an individual and improve its "status" in family life, then names are welcome, especially if short, original, and above all reflecting the dog's personality.

A seguire, poi, dopo Buddy troviamo: Rocky, Jack (nome preferito in assoluto anche in Italia), Milo, Toby, Leo, Bruno e Rex.

How do I contact the shelter about L’importanza di chiamarsi…per i maschi?

Can I adopt L’importanza di chiamarsi…per i maschi if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Associazione Onlus Apaca will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is L’importanza di chiamarsi…per i maschi already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if L’importanza di chiamarsi…per i maschi isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Associazione Onlus Apaca early rather than rehoming privately; they know L’importanza di chiamarsi…per i maschi and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (IT). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
