Colour: black born: 06.2026 Found at: Hofaschenbach Categories: Animals, Cats, Cat, Kitten Description Description Hello, I'm Lara! I'm about 12 weeks old, raven-black and a little cuddle mouse. My special feature? I am about 90% blind. But honestly, I think that gets overrated sometimes. Because I still race through the apartment at full speed, as if I were on my own personal racetrack. Sure, sometimes a door frame or some other object gets in my way unexpectedly and I bump my head. But after a short "Oops!" I just carry on. What else is there to do? Jumping up is no problem for me at all. Getting down is more of a matter of orientation – there I sometimes need a little help. But I've found my own solutions for that too. And here I even have two big foster dads who always keep an eye on me. The two of them look after me well, show me where to go, and are always close by. I get along wonderfully with other cats. By the way, I'm a real role model when it comes to the litter box: I always use it politely, and so far nothing has ever missed. So there really is nothing to complain about. Otherwise I'm simply a sweet, cuddly little cat girl who loves being close, snuggling, and of course getting up to plenty of mischief. I'm now looking for my very special people who will take me as I am and give me a safe and loving home. In return I bring plenty of love, purring, and a generous helping of joie de vivre. So, does anyone still have a spot free for a little black racing cat named Lara?

About Lara

What life with Lara looks like

Lara is a large kitten european shorthair cat waiting at Tierheim Fulda in Fulda.

Kittens are tiny chaos engines for about six months and then mellow rapidly. They need two scheduled feedings, a litter box per cat plus one extra, and somewhere high to climb. Spay/neuter happens around six months — most shelters arrange this before adoption.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Dogs and cats typically leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with an EU pet passport.

Frequently asked

Adopting Lara, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Lara?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Tierheim Fulda handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Lara on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Lara if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Tierheim Fulda will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Transport is usually a separate cost, so ask for the exact figure before you commit.
Is Lara already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most cats on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Lara isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Tierheim Fulda early rather than rehoming privately; they know Lara and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
