Lavender

Mixed Breed · Female · Young · 1 year

Lavender is looking for an adult-only home. She could potentially live with other cats and will require outdoor access. Lavender is a beautiful young lady and she knows it! She loves to roll around purring to get your attention but she has a sassy side and can be a little unpredictable when she is feeling overwhelmed and needs some space. Lavender has taken a little time to adapt to the shelter but is quite content now to sit on her shelf, watching the world go by. She can get startled easily, so we feel that she will will be best placed in a quiet home where she adjust to her new surroundings in her own time. Lavender has shown how affectionate and sweet she can be and deserves the opportunity to find her forever family, where her personality will continue to bloom knowing that she’s safe and loved.

About Lavender

What life with Lavender looks like

Lavender is a young adult mixed breed cat waiting at Newcastle Dog and Cat Shelter in Newcastle.

An adult cat usually shows their personality within a week. Give them a quiet room with everything they need (food, water, litter, hiding spot) and let them choose when to explore. Don't force interaction — every cat decides for themselves when a new home counts as home.

🇬🇧Adopting from United Kingdom

UK shelters work under the Pet Travel Scheme (post-Brexit, the EU pet passport is not valid; a UK Animal Health Certificate is required for travel into the EU). Most UK rescues focus on domestic placements but some work with EU partners.

Frequently asked

Adopting Lavender, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Lavender?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Newcastle Dog and Cat Shelter handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Lavender on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Lavender if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Newcastle Dog and Cat Shelter will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. UK adopters: post-Brexit travel into the EU requires an Animal Health Certificate. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Lavender already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most cats on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Lavender isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Newcastle Dog and Cat Shelter early rather than rehoming privately; they know Lavender and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (EN). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
