Leevke

adoption requirements adoption process Now request this animal! adoption requirements adoption process Leevke has found her home! Her story: Leevke, a charming young lady, is searching for her people. Leevke lives currently in a foster home, but in the outdoor area. During a spay/neuter campaign in Sighetul Marmatiei in October 2024, she was apparently left behind, along with her current penmate Annette. The owners could not be found. Now it's time for Leevke to find a forever home. Leevke gets along well with other dogs, and the cat introduction has already been made. Leevke's name means "darling" in Frisian. Leevke can definitely be integrated into a family. As soon as someone takes care of her, she can't stop wagging her tail out of sheer joy. Leevke is about 50-54 cm in height and weighs around 20-23 kg. She might be a Lab-German Shepherd mix, but that's just speculation. Leevke wishes for a family that shows her how wonderful dog life can be and that goes through "thick and thin" with her. Long nature walks, a visit to dog training classes, and mental stimulation that also challenges her clever mind, and of course, lots of cuddle time are what Leevke dreams of. Leevke probably hasn't experienced life in a house yet and will certainly need to learn the entire dog ABC. Additionally, Leevke is currently going through puberty, a time when everything is questioned and ears are often on high alert. But it's just a phase, and with lots of patience, love, and humor, this phase can be mastered together. Leevke is looking forward to your request. Leevke travels neutered, vaccinated, dewormed, and flea-treated with her EU pet passport in her luggage. But also a foster home could be a stepping stone to a happy future. Thanks, Kristin P.! You gave Leevke her pretty name and thus her identity. Status: 23.12.

Stand: 23.12.2024

About Leevke

What life with Leevke looks like

Leevke is a large young adult mixed breed dog waiting at Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. in München.

An young adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. A larger dog like this one needs daily off-leash time when possible — a fenced yard or regular access to safe walking trails. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Leevke, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Leevke?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Leevke on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Leevke if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Leevke already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Leevke isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. early rather than rehoming privately; they know Leevke and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
