Trixi

Mixed Breed · Female · Senior · 10 years

Origin: Linares (Andalusia) Location: Foster home in Thiersheim (Northern Bavaria) Size / Weight: approx. 23 cm shoulder height, currently just over 5 kg Other: Neutered, microchipped with EU pet passport, vaccinated and tested for Mediterranean diseases Character: Still a bit shy around people, but basically not fearful. Gets along well with other dogs, absolutely good-natured and balanced New home: A natural environment, people with dog experience—ideally, there’s already a small canine companion present; no expectations required, just patience and empathy Placement fee: 300 euros At foster home in Thiersheim/Northern Bavaria! Trixi is about nine years old and hasn’t experienced much kindness in her life. For years, this little dog soul was forced to function as a breeding machine in a Spanish breeding facility, giving birth to countless puppies. Loving words, a soft bed, or carefree walks simply didn’t exist in her world. But now, a better life has finally begun—Trixi has been able to move to a foster home in Northern Bavaria. Unfortunately, this is only temporary happiness, as a “forever home” is still urgently needed! Here, the little lady is just learning how wonderful dog life can be. Of course, her past has left its mark on Trixi’s soul, yet she shows us what a brave fighter she really is. She opens up more and more each day, and those who approach her with empathy and without any pressure will be rewarded with progress. She has integrated wonderfully into her new dog pack from the very beginning. Trixi is curious, explores the world at her own pace, and clearly enjoys dashing joyfully through the garden. Afterwards, she snuggles happily into a soft bed—a luxury beyond words for a breeder dog. Even house-trained, the clever little girl was within just a few days—a feat that’s far from guaranteed for dogs from such facilities. Towards people, the sweet chocolate heart is understandably still a bit reserved, but shows absolutely no aggression. Since the leash currently still scares her, Trixi is looking for a quiet, rural home with a dog-safe garden. An already established, confident canine companion would give this fit dog, who currently still has a bit too much weight on her ribs, extra security. Do you have a basket, a spot on the sofa, and above all, plenty of room in your heart for this battered but infinitely lovable soul? From now on, Trixi needs to experience what true security and love really mean. If you’re interested in meeting Trixi and can pick up this treasure from her foster home in Northern Bavaria, please get in touch with us. Tell us a little about yourself, your home, and your life so we can see together whether Trixi can find her great happiness with you. Maybe this little, loyal sparrow is waiting just for you? Trixi’s antibody test for Mediterranean diseases shows a positive result for Ehrlichiosis. Treatment has now been started with the appropriate antibiotic and will usually be completed in about 4 weeks (end of July). Please feel free to check with your veterinarian or online beforehand for more information. Of course, we’re also happy to answer any questions you may have. About Trixi

What life with Trixi looks like

Trixi is a large senior mixed breed dog waiting at Franz von Assisi Hundenothilfe e.V. (Hunde ohne Lobby) in Vilseck.

Senior dogs settle in faster than younger ones. They want a soft bed, predictable meals, and short, sniff-heavy walks rather than runs. Many senior rescues bond deeply within weeks because they understand exactly how good a stable home is. Expect occasional vet visits for joint or dental care.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Trixi, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Trixi?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Franz von Assisi Hundenothilfe e.V. (Hunde ohne Lobby) handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Trixi on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Trixi if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Franz von Assisi Hundenothilfe e.V. (Hunde ohne Lobby) will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Trixi already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Trixi isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Franz von Assisi Hundenothilfe e.V. (Hunde ohne Lobby) early rather than rehoming privately; they know Trixi and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
