Adopt Lemon Pie

Shih Tzu · Female · Adult · 4 years

01-06-26 Lemon Pie is an absolute heartbreaker who came to us from a breeder and initially found it difficult to settle into her new environment. We believe this was partly due to discomfort in her right eye, which has since been removed. She is recovering well and already seems much more comfortable. Lemon Pie can be a little sensitive to touch and may shy away from hands, suggesting that she may not always have been treated with the kindness she deserves. However, once she is gently picked up and held, she settles nicely and simply needs plenty of love, patience, and reassurance to help her learn to trust. Having never lived in a home before, Lemon Pie will need understanding adopters who can guide her through all the new experiences and routines of family life. She may initially be too nervous for lead walks, so spending time exploring a secure garden at her own pace would be a great way to help her build confidence as she adjusts to her new surroundings. Lemon Pie will need at least one kind, confident resident dog in her new home to help show her the way and provide reassurance as she settles in. She could live with older, dog-savvy teenagers who will respect her space and offer her the patience and understanding she needs. She is an incredibly deserving little girl who simply needs time, kindness, and patience to blossom into the happy companion she was always meant to be. Lemon Pie has a travel document. This dog can be homed with a resident dog.

About Lemon Pie

What life with Lemon Pie looks like

Lemon Pie is a adult shih tzu dog waiting at Many Tears Animal Rescue in Llanelli.

An adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. Two reasonable walks a day plus play time is usually enough. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇬🇧Adopting from United Kingdom

UK shelters work under the Pet Travel Scheme (post-Brexit, the EU pet passport is not valid; a UK Animal Health Certificate is required for travel into the EU). Most UK rescues focus on domestic placements but some work with EU partners.

Frequently asked

Adopting Lemon Pie, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Lemon Pie?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Many Tears Animal Rescue handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Lemon Pie on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Lemon Pie if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Many Tears Animal Rescue will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. UK adopters: post-Brexit travel into the EU requires an Animal Health Certificate. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Lemon Pie already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Lemon Pie isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Many Tears Animal Rescue early rather than rehoming privately; they know Lemon Pie and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (EN). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
