Sally

Shih Tzu · Female · Adult · 6 years

09-05-26 Sweet little Sally has come to us from a breeder to begin her search for a loving forever home. She is a very gentle girl who is understandably feeling a little worried to find herself here, but she is trying so hard to be brave. Sally will gently approach you for a little sniff and is already showing what a sweet nature she has, she just needs time, patience and reassurance to help her confidence grow. With the right home and lots of kindness, we are sure she will blossom into a lovely companion. She will be looking for a calm, kind and understanding home with adopters who are around most of the time and who will allow her to settle in at her own pace. Everything in a home environment will be completely new to Sally, so she will need gentle guidance as she learns about everyday life and new skills such as house training and how to walk on a lead. Sally absolutely loves other dogs and gains a lot of comfort from them, so she will need at least one other kind and gentle resident dog in her new home to be her friend and show her the way. Sally will need a larger, male dog in her home and cannot live with females or smaller dogs. This sweet girl just needs someone to give her the chance she deserves and she will repay your love tenfold. Sally has a lick granuloma on her left front leg, which is healing and an old scar on her left hip. She has had an umbilical hernia repair at the time of her spay and is being treated for bilateral conjunctivitis. This dog can be homed with a resident dog.

About Sally

What life with Sally looks like

Sally is a adult shih tzu dog waiting at Many Tears Animal Rescue in Llanelli.

An adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. Two reasonable walks a day plus play time is usually enough. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇬🇧Adopting from United Kingdom

UK shelters work under the Pet Travel Scheme (post-Brexit, the EU pet passport is not valid; a UK Animal Health Certificate is required for travel into the EU). Most UK rescues focus on domestic placements but some work with EU partners.

Frequently asked

Adopting Sally, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Sally?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Many Tears Animal Rescue handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Sally on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Sally if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Many Tears Animal Rescue will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. UK adopters: post-Brexit travel into the EU requires an Animal Health Certificate. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Sally already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Sally isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Many Tears Animal Rescue early rather than rehoming privately; they know Sally and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (EN). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
