Lena is a small 3-year-old girl from Gradiška who came to us with her sister, Nena. Both girls were described as very sad and unhappy when they arrived, but Lena also had another problem that needed urgent attention: a painful injury to her leg. We took Lena to the vet straight away for X-rays. Thankfully, the leg is not broken, but the ligaments and tendons have been damaged. Her leg is very swollen and painful, so she is receiving painkillers and will need therapy, strict rest and time to recover properly. Lena is only around 8 to 9 kg and is also very thin. For now, her priority is simply to rest, gain some weight and allow her body to heal. She is being kept carefully confined so that she cannot make the injury worse while the damaged tissues recover. At three years old, Lena should have many happy years ahead of her. We hope that once she has recovered from her injury, she will have the opportunity to leave the difficult part of her life behind and discover the comfort and security of a loving home.
