Leni

Mixed Breed · Female · Puppy · 2 months

Leni is a 2-month-old female puppy who was found on a garbage dump in Bosnia, full of parasites and covered in chains. Despite this difficult start, she is full of life and eager to explore. Leni was abandoned on a garbage dump in Bosnia with her three siblings, where they had to fight for survival amidst trash, dirt, and danger. When they were found, the puppies were covered in parasites and chains. Now, they have the chance to live the life they deserve. Leni is a playful, curious, and incredibly affectionate little dog. She wants to discover the world, feel close to people, and experience what it's like to be loved and protected. She also gets along well with other dogs and is social and lovable. Leni is still waiting in Bosnia for her big chance. For people who see her as a little dog, not her past. People who show her that her life can be beautiful too. Who falls in love with our little nameless mouse and gives her a forever home? If so, she can travel to her new home chipped and vaccinated. Until then, we are looking for loving people who want to support Leni with a unique sponsorship. Request for Leni

About Leni

What life with Leni looks like

Leni is a small puppy mixed breed dog waiting at Ankerhunde e.V. in Novi Grad.

Puppies need routine, gentle socialization, and roughly two short outings a day for the first year. The first six months are the formative window — house-training, leash work, and quiet exposure to traffic, other dogs, and unfamiliar people happen now or not at all. Expect early-morning wake-ups and a few months of chewing.

🇧🇦Adopting from Bosnia and Herzegovina

Frequently asked

Adopting Leni, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Leni?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Ankerhunde e.V. handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Leni on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Leni if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Ankerhunde e.V. will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Transport is usually a separate cost, so ask for the exact figure before you commit.
Is Leni already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Leni isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Ankerhunde e.V. early rather than rehoming privately; they know Leni and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
