Leo

Husky · Male · Young · 1 year

The handsome Leo is a typical young Husky, just as he is in the book. Leo loves to run for his life, is cheeky, talks a lot and is very often easily distracted. Luckily, he is a really friendly guy who is environmentally safe and friendly to everyone. Whoever wants to give Leo a home should be able to provide enough exercise, this means not just time, but also corresponding fitness, because the young Husky is bursting with energy. Leo loves long walks in parks and forests in the area and would certainly like to be on the road longer than our usual round every day. A good dose of humor should also be present in his future family, because Leo likes to argue for his life and sometimes loudly - typical for this breed. He gets along well with his fellow dogs and shares his cage with Sabina. Leo knows basic commands, but he lacks the necessary patience... after all, there is just too much to discover in this exciting world. Whether he already knows being alone is not known, if necessary, this must be built up step by step. Leo's former owner had neither the space nor enough time to meet the needs of a Husky after a change of residence and job, so a new chapter in life is starting for Leo. Who can't imagine anything better than spending a lot of time with a cool guy in nature, may have found his perfect match and a friend for life with Leo. If you want to get to know Leo, you are welcome to visit the animal shelter personally during the mediation times or write a meaningful email to our animal caretakers.

DE·Show original

About Leo

What life with Leo looks like

Leo is a young adult husky dog waiting at Franziskus-Tierheim Hamburg in Hamburg.

An young adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. Two reasonable walks a day plus play time is usually enough. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Leo, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Leo?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Franziskus-Tierheim Hamburg handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Leo on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Leo if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Franziskus-Tierheim Hamburg will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Leo already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Leo isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Franziskus-Tierheim Hamburg early rather than rehoming privately; they know Leo and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
