Leon

Border Collie · Male · Puppy

Hello everyone! My name is Leon, a sweet little border collie mix puppy born in early May 2026. I am a medium-sized breed (around 25 kg as an adult). My life started out very badly: I was found near death on the side of the road. A foxtail, penetrated into one ear, had caused a very serious situation, affecting my brain and causing terrible seizures. Fortunately, I am a little warrior. After a couple of weeks of care and attention, I completely recovered. Today I am doing great: I am a sweet, sociable puppy full of life. I get along with dogs, cats, and people, and despite everything I've been through, I have kept all the trust and affection that only a puppy can give. I am looking for a patient and loving family who wants to accompany me in my growth, share many adventures with me, and above all give me all the love I deserve. I am dewormed, vaccinated, and microchipped. I am currently in Calabria, but for a good adoption, I can move to all of Central-North Italy.

Dolce, tenero, buono Persone, bambini, cani, gatti Ciao a tutti!

About Leon

What life with Leon looks like

Leon is a medium-sized puppy/kitten border collie dog waiting at I Pelosetti di Silvana in Italy.

Puppies need routine, gentle socialization, and roughly two short outings a day for the first year. The first six months are the formative window — house-training, leash work, and quiet exposure to traffic, other dogs, and unfamiliar people happen now or not at all. Expect early-morning wake-ups and a few months of chewing.

🇮🇹Adopting from Italy

Italian canili require adopters to sign a stewardship contract (affido) and may retain the right to verify the animal's wellbeing post-adoption. Animals are chipped and sterilized before leaving (Legge 281/91). Public canili rifugio typically waive adoption fees.

Frequently asked

Adopting Leon, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Leon?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. I Pelosetti di Silvana handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Leon on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Leon if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — I Pelosetti di Silvana will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Leon already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Leon isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with I Pelosetti di Silvana early rather than rehoming privately; they know Leon and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (IT). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
