Adopt Leon dina

Mixed Breed · Male · Young · 1 year

Following a Seprona operation, several dogs were seized; they lived in an enclosure without proper veterinary care. A lady had been adopting dogs with good intentions, but she lacked the means and knowledge to care for them. Among them is León: León is this one-and-a-half-year-old Mastiff cross that we rescued from Noah's Ark syndrome. He is a very friendly and affectionate dog: he wraps himself around you like a cat and loves to provoke you to play. As a good teenager, he still has a slight distrust of the unfamiliar, so he needs to be taught the world in a calm and safe manner, helping him gain confidence in himself and everything around him. He relies a lot on those he trusts and his kennel companions, Africa and Xena, whom he adores. He walks fairly well, though he can be startled by some new stimuli. If you convey security to him, everything will be fine. León needs someone who understands what it means to be a large dog: they also seek security and a lot of affection. He is already neutered. Leishmania analysis is questionable. No treatment is needed; only a control analysis in about three months. 4DX Idexx (Ehrlichia, Heartworm, Anaplasma, and borrelia) test is negative.

Test 4 Idexx (ehrlichia, filaria, anaplasma y borrelia) negativo. About Leon dina

What life with Leon dina looks like

Leon dina is a large young adult mixed breed dog waiting at ALBA Protectora Madrid in Madrid.

An young adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. A larger dog like this one needs daily off-leash time when possible — a fenced yard or regular access to safe walking trails. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇪🇸Adopting from Spain

Spanish protectoras generally include sterilization, all vaccinations, microchip ID, and EU pet passport in the adoption fee (typically €250–€400 for a dog, €100–€180 for a cat). Many maintain partnerships with rescue transport providers across the EU.

Frequently asked

Adopting Leon dina, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Leon dina?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. ALBA Protectora Madrid handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Leon dina on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Leon dina if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — ALBA Protectora Madrid will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Leon dina already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Leon dina isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with ALBA Protectora Madrid early rather than rehoming privately; they know Leon dina and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (ES). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
