Leosia

Mixed Breed · Female · Adult · 5 years

Leosia arrived at our animal shelter with her eight puppies. At first, she was a very scared and wary suniya, primarily focused on protecting her little ones. Like any caring mother, she bravely watched over them and did everything to ensure their safety. Today, Leosia is a completely different female dog. She has opened up to people, gained trust, and shows how wonderful it can be to be a pet. Upon seeing a person, she joyfully wags her tail, eagerly approaching for attention and petting. She loves being petted, and when she feels safe, she lies on her back and offers her belly for rubs. This is an incredibly loving, gentle, and friendly female dog who deserves her own loving home. We are sure she will repay her future caregiver with her whole big heart.

PL·Show original

Dziś Leosia to zupełnie inna sunia.

About Leosia

What life with Leosia looks like

Leosia is a medium-sized adult mixed breed dog waiting at OTOZ Animals — Schronisko w Starogardzie Gdańskim in Poland.

An adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. Two reasonable walks a day plus play time is usually enough. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇵🇱Adopting from Poland

Polish shelters maintain established transport routes to Germany, Netherlands, Austria, and Sweden. Animals leave sterilized and chipped. Adoption fees are typically lower than in Western Europe (often €50–€150) but adopters cover transport.

Frequently asked

Adopting Leosia, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Leosia?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. OTOZ Animals — Schronisko w Starogardzie Gdańskim handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Leosia on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Leosia if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — OTOZ Animals — Schronisko w Starogardzie Gdańskim will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Leosia already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Leosia isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with OTOZ Animals — Schronisko w Starogardzie Gdańskim early rather than rehoming privately; they know Leosia and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (PL). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
