Adopt Lepi

Mixed Breed · Male

Lepi is a 1.5 year old (as of 12/2022) Galgo who has been at the animal shelter of our friends from Puntanimals since November. He was found in a field by our friends completely weakened - and if this happens in March or late autumn, the story of the four-legged friend is often already clear: Either the handsome male dog was not suitable for hunting or his owner was not willing to continue feeding the dogs he used for driving during the season after the season. Considering the cruelty that reveals itself every year in Spain when it comes to the fate of thousands of Galgos and Podencos, one is still stunned after a long time in animal protection. Our brilliant young Galgo Lepi now lives safely in Punta and has quickly found two- and four-legged friends. The cream-colored male dog is really a sunbeam and just as sweet as whipped cream. Whenever possible, our cuddle ball seeks the proximity of the staff, confidently presses against the thighs and pushes his slim nose under the hand of the chosen caresser. A no will not hear Lepi, grumbling and whining he emphasizes his need and the necessity of an extended unit of affection and love. For every person who is occasionally a bit melancholic and wishes for a friend who is always there, ready day and night simply to listen and be silent like a knight's grave, Lepi is certainly the first choice. If you also have a sporting streak, like to take long walks, maybe even a jogger or occasionally go on leisurely bike rides with the family, then choosing Lepis as a constant companion becomes a six in the lottery, because despite all tenderness and balance, our charming cream puff is still a running dog who loves to feel his body, put his ears in the wind and really let himself go before he turns back into a cuddle monster on the couch. So if you are also a sporty cuddler, or your family includes both couch potatoes and endurance runners, if grandma is at home during the day while you work, and you like to take a relaxing evening walk, then don't hesitate any longer - Lepi is urgently waiting for your call and his ticket to great happiness!

About Lepi

What life with Lepi looks like

Lepi is a large adult mixed breed dog waiting at Tierschutzverein ARCA e.V. in Gernsbach.

An adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. A larger dog like this one needs daily off-leash time when possible — a fenced yard or regular access to safe walking trails. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Lepi, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Lepi?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Tierschutzverein ARCA e.V. handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Lepi on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Lepi if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Tierschutzverein ARCA e.V. will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Lepi already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Lepi isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Tierschutzverein ARCA e.V. early rather than rehoming privately; they know Lepi and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
