Levante

Belgian Malinois · Male · Young · 2 years

Levante ID No.: 1008456 Breed: Malinois Age: approx. 02/2023 Sex: male Shoulder height: approx. 61 cm Neutered: Yes Location: Marbella (Spain) Inquiry form Levante – a sensitive young dog in search of his perfect person Levante (*approx. 02/2023, approx. 61 cm) was found alone on the street in July 2024 and brought to the animal shelter Triple A in Marbella. No one seemed to miss him, despite the immense heart and longing he carries within. For a sensitive Malinois, life in an animal shelter is pure stress: noise, confinement, sensory overload. Levante has lost significant weight and often appears restless—but this isn’t his true nature; it’s overwhelm. Outside, a different dog emerges. In nature, he becomes calmer, more open, and seeks connection. He doesn’t want to “perform”—he wants to be able to trust, through quiet walks, hikes, shared discoveries, and genuine companionship. He’s not a dog for high-energy action or rigid training drills; he’s one who longs to be truly seen. Levante reminds us of an excited child seeing the world for the first time: curious, sometimes overwhelmed, yet brimming with eagerness to learn. What does he need? People with patience, clarity, and emotional sensitivity—people who can calmly show him he’s exactly right just as he is. Despite his insecurities, he seeks closeness and remains approachable and friendly. He gets along well with other dogs and currently lives peacefully in a mixed group with male dogs. We’re especially delighted that Levante has begun initial substance detection training (Detección de sustancias) at the animal shelter—a type of scent work used in Spain, for example, to detect odors like blood or explosives. Levante shows great enthusiasm for this work, focusing intently and tackling tasks with real drive. This kind of cooperative activity gives him structure, purpose, and visibly brings him joy. Toys remain very important to him—perhaps even too important right now. His strong fixation on them can be positively redirected in his new home with patience and targeted techniques, such as food-based or search games. Currently, we avoid playing with toys altogether to help reduce this intense focus. He was examined due to back pain and diagnosed with mild bilateral hip dysplasia (HD) and early-stage discospondylosis (L7–S1). He receives joint-supporting supplements and physiotherapy, which greatly benefit him. A single-level home would be ideal; a garden would be lovely but isn’t essential. Levante is a typical Malinois: intelligent, sensitive, and full of energy. He needs a calm, experienced hand—loving, clear, and patient. Those who understand him will gain a loyal, deeply connected dog with tremendous potential. We’re looking for adopters with prior dog experience, a quiet household without children, and people who think in terms of relationship rather than expectations. Levante is waiting for someone who sees him for who he truly is: a dog with heart, intelligence, and a deep desire to finally belong. Levante is vaccinated, microchipped, neutered, and holds an EU pet passport. At the time of travel arrangements, he will be tested for Mediterranean diseases and dewormed. Was er braucht? About Levante

What life with Levante looks like

Levante is a medium-sized young adult belgian malinois dog waiting at Helfende Hände e.V. in Germany.

An young adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. Two reasonable walks a day plus play time is usually enough. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Levante, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Levante?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Helfende Hände e.V. handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Levante on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Levante if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Helfende Hände e.V. will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Levante already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Levante isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Helfende Hände e.V. early rather than rehoming privately; they know Levante and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
